I heard the crows outside and got there in time to see them 'picking' on this bald eagle. They had chased him away from a freshly killed wild rabbit.

Very funny, Jan! LOL!
And Cathy, at times I feel like I live in a Nat Geo special with nature happening all around me. Gotta be prepared!
Thanks for the info, photogent! It's a shame there wasn't a second eagle around. I prefer the eagles to crows!

Crows have it all over an Eagle when it comes to brains. They are more maneuverable then the Eagle and will win a three on one every time. When the mate is in the area the tide turns very quickly and the second eagle will hit one of the crows and the game is over. Great picture JC .

Good picture! You are like a reporter who grabs his camera and runs when a story is happening. Thank you JC.

So we scratch off flying as one of your many talents! LOL

It shocked the heck out of me, too, Jan! I never heard of it before! Of course, I prefer the eagles to crows but was unable to do anything.

JiggyBelle

I had no idea this could happen. I would have thought the eagle would be master of the situation. Amazing!

I think they've mastered the art of cooperative hunting--if they were 1850's Native Americans using bows and arrows to chase away a bear that had killed a bison, then claiming the food, we would be applauding man's evolved skills! LOL!

I agree, chickie!

chickiemama

Bullies they are!

jcarroll

Pat, they chased him for about a quarter mile, then went back and ate his kill!

Those smaller birds can take down a large bird in a heartbeat...
