I've been collecting photos, about 8 so far, of trees that are surviving under extreme duress and conditions.
This one was in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. I talked to one of the people in costume about it. It was run over by a dump truck about 10 years ago. Someone propped it up and it was shortly struck by lightning. Everyone gave up on it and waited for it to be replaced. Obviously it never was and its still has The Will To Survive.

Its nice when they go that way, Eaglefeather. It gives hope. Thanks

eaglefeather

A nice ending to a sad story:)

warbler

Yeah Suzy! Gnarley things deserve to live on. I should have snipped a couple of tiny cuttings from it and tried to root them.

Some mornings I think that about me Gladstone. :-) Thanks

Gladstone

Thank you Warbler for your tree picture. It is amazing how much somethings go through and are still around.

pumpkinhead

Live on, gnarley tree!

This is what I call a "Snarl Tree" I think that is reason enough as there are not a lot of Snarl Trees in this world they are on the extinct list so take care of them as they are a proud tree and still stand tall LOL.......Thanks warbler for posting this noble tree :)))

mountain

Good one, Photo.

So far so good, breezyone. Watch them dig it up and replace it.

OH! Knot again. I was down but not out. I will survive, I will survive. Nice one Warbler.

breezyone

It certainly LOOKS like a survivor -- barely!
