Happy to have helped - I hope the toys reach you soon, and I'm trying!!!

Wendy_13

Mandy, I so appreciate the fact that you united papa and me. He's been such a good father since then, although I still haven't received any shipments of toys yet (he's supposed to send me some).

And do what you can to rein in your intelligence. :-)

monza006

I'm so glad to have united father and daughter!!! Wendy, you and me both... at least for a while!!! (the forgetting bit), and I'll try to rein in my IQ - but its a bit wayward sometimes!!! :~)

Wendy_13

PaPa! Oh, this is exciting! I have a new, and wonderful daddy now.

Mandy, I totally forgot about the fact that the spider can use less pedals. How come you're so smart? Keep your intelligence under control. ;-)

monza006

Unlike humans, most of whom would like a spare pair of arms!!!

lelabugosi

Yes, spiders like to have spare sets of legs......in case of accidents also, as well, too.....

monza006

Yes, I thought that was the relationship!! Wendy I just thought - your Daddy's spider won't need all 14 legs to pedal - it'll need some to steer - so the bike you found would be perfect - I just need to find it in a miniature version - in fact it would probably to OK with just 3 sets of pedals and handlebars - then the spider would have a spare set of "legs" for eating ice cream and drinking tadpole wine!!!

lelabugosi

Dear long-lost-daughter....you may call me papa.....or even 'pa' if you so wish....

Wendy13

Oh, I just remembered, it's 14 legs, not 14 people. So all it would need is 14 pedals.

Wendy13

You're my daddy! What would you like me to call you for now on then? I can't think that calling you Mr. Bugosi would be suitable anymore.

Mandy, I think my daddy figured it out. If you think differently, let me know. :-)
Here's a bike built for 5, and if you had two more attached to it, then my daddy's spider could use all his legs to pedal. Unfortunately, the bike is way too big for a spider.

monza006

I have been trying to source a 14-o bike, still unsuccessfully, although I have tracked down a company that can build a bike to order - so that will be the ultimate solution. I'm trying to work out the spider-tree, but I am having difficulty - I think I need to consult a spider genealogist.

lelabugosi

I think you are the adoptive mother of my adoptive daughter's daughter....of course my daughter is the real mother of your daughter, who has me as her adoptive grandfather.......all of which makes you the mother of my grandaughter........so I must therefore be....YOUR FATHER!.......Possibly in an adoptive way, of course......

I hope this has helped you, daughter.................
Love, daddy......

Wendy_13

Mr. Bugosi, I think you might be right about the parentage. I think the reason you don't see the father, or at least can't figure out who the father is, is because he escaped before Mandy had a chance to post the puzzle.

And yes, we MUST be related! OH.....geeez. I kid you not. I'm trying to think how we're related. You are basically the father of the spider you adopted which is the mother of the spider I adopted. My brain can't untangle this. If you or Mandy can come up with the exact relationship we have, please let me know at your earliest convenience.

lelabugosi

Upon thorough study of these spiders, I have come to the conclusion that mine must be the mother of Wendy's......which of course means that Wendy and I ARE RELATED!!.........(which is the father I haven't a clue).......

Wendy13

You're quite welcome, Ms. Mandy.

Have you gone to Spider-Mart yet? My educated guess would be that you could also buy the fourteen-o bike at a place like this:

On another note, Kathy doesn't know what she's missing.

lelabugosi

Probably at Spider-Mart.........

monza006

Hello Kathy - welcome to a wonderful world of spiders!!! Who knew it would become so interesting?? I now have a long list of criteria to fulfil when I post any spiders!!!

Wendy, thank you for compiling the list so concisely - it will be helpful when I next box up spiders.

Lela - I'm not sure where to get a fourteen-o bike, any suggestions?? - LOL

Hummingbird59

Ok, I have never thought of spiders as being interesting, but you guys definitely make for a good read LOL!!!!

The one thing that spider do for me is make me move fast!!! LOL I am slow, but when it comes to the spider kingdom, I will gladly let Wendy and Mr. Bugosi have all they can handle LOL :-)

Mandy, an amazing puzzle to cause such a stir! LOL LOL LOL

Wendy13

Mandy, in the future, when you plan on boxing up spiders, make sure that they have a reasonable amount of space to play in, fun toys to play with, comfy bedding, and sporting equipment to keep them limber. Mr. Bugosi's spider is taking it really tough.

lelabugosi

Well, 'my' one would need a fourteen-o-bike!.....

monza006

LOL - how could I have forgotten go-karts?? But I'm thinking - quad bikes would be fun... but perhaps they could have octo-bikes???

lelabugosi

....and go-karts!.........

monza006

Wendy, of course, if we're talking a day of fun on rare occasions that opens up the debate much more widely, we could include helter skelters, bouncy castles, ball pools and waltzers!!!

Wendy_13

Mandy, if you read the National Geographic article, among other things it said "Producing large quantities of silk creates a sort of "vast trampoline" that supports the spiders as they're fleeing the water, he noted."

So you see, they already are capable of producing their own trampolines. I think Mr. Bugosi was only suggesting that they get trampolines on the rare occasions when they invite spiders over for a day of fun, and there's not enough trampoline space to go around.

monza006

Wendy, it looks like they don't need/want trompolines either then? I rather think maybe they should have a safety net instead, all that jumping could be dangerous, and we wouldn't want any to get accidentally hurt!!!

Wendy13

Mandy, jumping spiders are no longer interested in bungee jumping. They've moved on to wanting their fair share of time on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoBm_Hgjc6Y

lelabugosi

Er....yes........not quite sure where though.....

monza006

Ahhhhh, so somewhere between trampolines and bungee jumping..... there is a line?????

lelabugosi

No, that would be a bit silly!.......

monza006

Next you'll be telling me they want to go bungee jumping!!! LOL :~)

lelabugosi

You could also provide them with trampolines.......just sayin'.......

monza006

Wow - Wendy, those photos are amazing, I'm stunned!! Imagine how long it took to make all of those "blankets"???

Wendy_13

Mandy, Mr. Bugosi is right. If you provided the spiders with reasonably soft and warm blankets, they wouldn't have to go to the trouble of making spider blankets themselves.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2012/03/pictures/120307-spiderwebs-australia-floods-wagga-wagga-world-science/

monza006

LOL - Wendy I can't fault your logic!!!! Why didn't I think of that??
Oh, lela, you're making me feel tired!!! But you know what happens to pigs in blankets?? I don't think spiders would like that!! :~)

lelabugosi

Yes.....soft pillows.........and warm blankets.......

Wendy_13

hmmmm, Mandy. I thought most of us wanted to live longer. If smiling makes the day go quicker, doesn't that mean that if every single day went quicker, that our lives would be shortened by quite a bit? I'm thinking that I should probably start practicing frowning.

The spiders might also appreciate soft pillows. I don't think anyone has ever bought spiders anything like that...and it might be the reason why spiders bite when they get cranky.

monza006

OH, of course, I'd hate to think that poor quality sleeping quarters would prevent spiders from getting their required sleep needs.

I'm glad you think the nose job was worth the cost, I kind of like the crooked look myself!! You have a very fine straight nose - just remember to keep smiling... as my friend Jaz says "smiling makes the day go quicker" - LOL

http://soundcloud.com/tankusthehenge/smiling-makes-the-day-go

Wendy_13

Good! Make sure the spiders have something comfy to sleep on if their webs get damaged. Think about it. It takes time to create a new web....and if they've had a busy day, they might be too exhausted to complete one before naptime or their night sleep.

I have to add that I love your new nose. It was worth every penny for the plastic surgery. It's slightly crooked, but incredibly attractive. Now I want one like you. Mine's too straight. :-( Ohhh, I never noticed this before. My nose touches my lip when I'm frowning. Maybe I should smile. :-) That's better.

monza006

I'm doing my best to keep them safe :~)

Wendy_13

Mandy, just don't step on my spider. I don't think you should step on Mr. Bugosi's either.

monza006

Kirsten and lela, I had to chuckle when I saw the spider lela wants... I imagine its just right for Bugosi, and yes, Kirsten, we have a similar problem in my house - though they get stomped on ;~(((

lelabugosi

Ooh, so it has!.......(must be highly advanced!).......

RandomWorship

Cute puzzle, and great title (and story), Mandy. I don't mind spiders either. In my house, I'm the one who catches them and pops them back outside. My partner goes foetal at the sight of them!! Even little ones!

And lela, I think your spider may have been living in a nuclear reactor! It has somewhat more that the requisite 8 legs!

lelabugosi

I would take the one on the middle-right, as it looks very cramped here.......

monza006

Wendy, I definitely need to encourage more to come your way - although we have lots of spiders, they are not very safe here!!

Wendy_13

We have a house that's over 100 years old and some of the ceilings are VERY high, and the spiders like to hang around on the ceilings of those. The spider will make lots of new friends and there are plenty of flies and other insects for it too eat. Our spiders are happy campers.

monza006

Thank you Wendy, I'm glad it will be moving to such a welcoming home!!

Wendy_13

OK, well, I'll take the one that's just about escaped off your hands now. I'm sure that it will enjoy my home much more. We have lots of spiders in our house- no kidding. It will fit right in.

monza006

LOL - Wendy!!! You WANT spiders in your NEXT mystery box!!! I'll have to see if any will oblige - they might not want to be enclosed... this one is already trying to escape a cramped household!!!

Wendy_13

Mandy, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the very bottom spider on the far right-hand side, AND the one that's above it and slightly to the left, and then the one on the far left in the middle row. Could you please include them in your next mystery box?

monza006

Congratulations for facing your "fear" Barb - I think this one is quite harmless!!! I'm glad you had fun.

tigress

I don't like spiders but I do love the pretty colours in this puzzle, Mandy. Fun to solve too. :-)
