What a fantastic paint job, Warbs! The attention to detail between the red of the car and the yellow of everything else to match the "Southern" printing is amazing. How neat is this. Thank you for another terrific puzzle!

Brie1648

Please could we wait until the weather is just a tad warmer? (By about 25 degrees!!)

ladywil

Are they using this for overnight guests? That is what they do in a railroadmuseum in Ontario and it is not cheap.

florrie

Now that would be daring, Brie! Go on - start a trend and see who follows :-))))
(sorry for being so bold as to utilise your space for chitchat, warbler)

Brie1648

No costume at all would draw the crowds but I don't think they would be adoring!! LOL!!

florrie

I simply can't imagine what PutterDutt would do with all that space.

Plumpossum

This would no doubt be the middle class version of those opulent 19th century private railcars of the robber barons.

warbler

Thanks for the words, fjed!!

Without a doubt, els! without a doubt.

Good eye noticing that Floyd!

I can think of one Robyn, I just don't know where I would put it. Maybe at Suzys house.

That would be so muchfun Brie, maybe even wear a costume!!

Your right Lorna, a very detailed job.

A luxury suite indeed, Ginger. Much larger!

A place to sit and look up and down the tracks easily, Cathy. Thanks!!

cevas

Great caboose!!! And it has a bay window!!! : )

cinderfire

Do you remember the story about the kids that lived in a caboose? This would have been a luxury suite for them.☺ A dandy Caboose Dave. :O)

goingsilver

It looks great and like it has been restored with love.

Brie1648

That is a work of art! I would love to ride in one of those and stand on the platform at the back -waving to the adoring masses!!

robryan

I wonder how many people dream of getting their hands on one of these Dave!!!

Gladstone

The outside looks like new. Great restoration job and find.
I like the curved grab bar so the trainman could swing into the back of the caboose.
Thanks Dave.

jan42ful

That's nicely restored Warbs. I look forward to seeing inside. Thanks and hugs, janet

els2

The stories it could tell!

fjed

Putter, Out west many people have purchased a used caboose, had it moved to their property and made it into a comfy cabin. Often the pop -out portion becomes the dining area.

warbler

And to think they are a thing of the past, now Lyndee. Now the last car has a couple of stick on lights on it and thats it, I believe. :(

Exactly Ellen.

Thanks Patti.

warbler

LOL Putter, indeed! But people have done that before!

I'll have to climb the stairs and look inside when I'm there in two weeks, smllpkg, to see if I can see the inside.

Its not a real old one but it is a Southern, Laura. Thanks!

I'll email you Suzy...

The best trip I ever took across the USA was by train, Daffydoodle!

PLG1958

Worth restoring! Thanks, Dave!
Neat story, Lyndee!

PutterDutt

Nice, lyndee!

I grew up in a very small town which was divided by railroad tracks. Would walk to school and many times I had to wait for them to pass by. Was always happy to see that red caboose for two reasons. One, it meant the end of the train, and two, there was always somebody standing on the back who would wave at me. :)

Daffydoodle

Thank you Warbler for this caboose as I love old trains. They were so much more fun to ride.

pumpkinhead

Let me know what your fodor questions are, Warb! Will be happy to help our...or have Beekay help out! (She's the real guru!)

laurajane

It's as handsome a caboose as I've ever seen!

smllpkg101

LOL, Putter. If anyone could handle a small living space, you could. This looks like brand new on the outside. I wonder if they did the inside, too?

PutterDutt

Funny thing......my first thought was, "I could turn that into a neat little home!" It's even got a little pop-out for internal interest. Add a fireplace, and it could be fun to live in. Yes?? Okay, maybe I'm still suffering from sleep deprivation.
