I was going to ask about that. It doesn't look like there's a doorway at the top and I don't see anything supporting the steps themselves. : )

To tell you the truth, I wondered if it was just art. The "opening" at the top could just be a painted shadow.

It's intriguing to look at--so modern and minimalist--but I wouldn't use it, ever! Was the dramatic effect worth the danger of not even having a wall-mounted handrail?! New parents make sure they baby-proof their house--this one isn't even adult-proof....... :-)
