Did someone mention brew pubs? I'm there lol! Seriously though, this is great shot - such a beautiful place I know I'll never get to see in person, so it's wonderful to be able to share them like this. It looks like someone threw a bucket of water over the trees and they just froze like that. Gorgeous!
I remember the lake when we spent summers on it back when it was being formed. I met Kate Smith on the lake a few time. thanks for showing NY in the proper light.
Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake were in our league when I was in high school. Not only did we have many trips into the Adirondacks for leisure, but I took many in school buses for football, basketball and track events. The track intersectionals were in Lake Placid (silver in the discus, bronze in the high jump :-) ). And on our way to my grandparents, we would sometimes stop to watch the seaplanes in Long Lake, and always pick up soft ice cream at Custard's Last Stand!
Before they built 28N, our trip also took us through Blue Mountain Lake, Indian Lake and North Creek. But Lake Placid was well out of our way - it's on my list to visit the area and the Adirondack High Peaks - for scenery like this!
Winter, spring, summer, fall....all great times in the Adirondacks gnt, Laura (as you know) and goingsilver. The ski jump is way up there, Robbie! Been there. Been to the bobsled and luge runs (still have doing the bobsled run on my bucket list). Have cross country skied at Mt. Von Hovenberg, without serious bodily injury. :) In the spring, summer and fall, so many fine trails to hike. The Adirondacks also offer great fishing, boating, swimming, camping....and a number of great brew pubs.
Another stunning picture PKH, this was such a fun area to visit. Dad and I took the chair lift up to the top of the ski jump..........Oh my gosh, i was terrified and closed my eyes while dad howled with laughter!! Have you been up there? Those athletes all deserve a medal just to go down those jumps! Thanks for the picture and memory.
