I`ll go have a look at the sites, Roseheather. Thanks:)
Thank you, Schutkleur. ; )The red-belly is probably similar to the red-breasted nuthatch, which I have been referring to as the rose-breasted nuthatch. I don't think the red or rose breast looks all that red. The belly of this woodpecker is not seen that much, but it is adifferent woodpecker from a woodpecker which is already called a red headed woodpecker. red-bellied woodpecker: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-bellied_Woodpecker/idred-headed woodpecker: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/red-headed_woodpecker/idanother red-headed one, called the pileated woodpecker: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Pileated_Woodpecker/id
It`s a gorgeous woodpecker, Roseheather. It does have a beautiful red cap, but its belly looks yellowish to me. Maybe the red just isn`t visible on the photo???
You are very welcome, PLG. ; )
I love these guys! Thanks!
