Since 1954, the pitcher plant has been Newfoundland and Labrador?s provincial flower. The Pitcher Plant is carnivorous, trapping insects in their gourd-like structures after water has accumulated in them.

There are a lot of different varieties of pitcher plants. This one is a *lot* different from the ones in New York State, which surprises me somewhat. I posted a puzzle of a pitcher plant and sundew from the Adirondacks at
