The Tale of Mordred, as related in a previous post:
"Awwww Atsutsa... my Mordred was also a street cat, but a bit older than Atsutsa. Also, he's too squat and ungainly to get more than a couple inches off the ground. I saw him looking all sad and bedraggled in the yard of a derelict school, got him some food and stuff, and then went home, thought about it all night, went back, and took him home (via the vet, where they treated and bathed him - I didn't even realise he was fluffy until the bath washed all the grime and matted gunk off him.)"
The first cat I got was Mr Francis. The same friend who would later bring me the Little Miss heard a high-pitched, frantic noise coming from a dumpster, started to dig through everything in there (as you can tell she LOVES animals) and found an old wine box with a tiny, TINY white kitten cowering inside. She picked up the kitten and brought him to me, and told me that at the shelter they just did not have the resources to raise a newborn kitten and that he'd probably be euthanised the next morning, but that if I wanted to try and raise him until he was big enough that they could rehome him, that'd be great. I said yes, and she said that was awesome but just to remember that he probably was not going to survive so to try not to get attached. So, I took him in, dripper-fed him and did all the usual momma cat stuff, and he quickly grew from tiny rat-like white thing to small adorable white kitten to large sullen adult cat.
The second cat I got was Dexter. Mr Francis was incredibly clingy and would have full-on anxiety attacks whenever I left the room, and this obviously was not ideal if I ever wanted to leave the house again (or, you know, occasionally enjoy the luxury of peeing without an audience.) I knew someone whose friend bred Maine Coons and I had always wanted a Maine Coon, so a few weeks later I made the six hour drive to his breeder's farm and brought back teeny 13-week-old Dexter.
The third cat I got was Mordred, and the fourth was the Little Miss, but you guys already know those stories.
