Hi Laura, I don't think this are berries. For me it's the same tree I have in my garden and that's a ornamental Apple. That apples are not bigger as berries and very red. A few months ago I posted the tree of my neighbor, I will take a look or I still can find it.

I took the shot of these on the Glamis Castle grounds. I was hoping you would know what they were, Lorna! I looked these up on the internet and they may be Rowan (Mountain Ash) tree berries.
