These are remains of the trenches in Diksmuide, Belgium. It's open for the public and you can walk through the trenches, see what the soldiers must have seen. No mud though but well worth a visit to these unique remains of WW I. So many soldiers died there, that this 'museum' is called: The trenches of Death.

Everyone experienced it in the family in one way or the other, Mygirlie.
It's scary indeed, Ladywil. Nowadays the trenches are clean and silent.

That must have been so scary...just looking at the old movies..poor soldiers.

Have heard much about my father and grandfather during 2- ww. One 15-16 years old(sabotage and underground away to Sweeden)) - one 50+( mayor of a big town in denmark and saving people ) - theire where los overall and I have felt WW2 on my own. Peace must be remembered between people :-)

Been there a couple of times, Grandmalucy. The feeling you get when walking through the trenches is overwhelming. It's well preserved and really gives you some idea of how it was....
Sad place it is.

OH my this s such an interesting place. i don't believe i have heard about this in my history class way back when.........thank you for the great info
