I bookmarked this one and just got around to doing it. I have family in the Swedish area of northern Finland...nearest big city, Vaasa.
My father was born in the U.S. of immigrant parents who returned to Finland. He lived there from 1907 to 1923, when Finland was a Russian principality. He came back to the U.S. when he was 20, to keep his American citizenship. My brother and I visited there with him in 1983 so he could see family he had not seen in 60 years. Buildings like this one were on family property.
