I think that's one of the most thrilling things about gardening, when you give up on something and it surprises you, or when a volunteer comes up that you didn't plant! Lovely rose.

A survivor!

Not a great picture but this rose came back from the dead this year. With our drought and awful triple digit heat, this rose along with most of the other plants, died back and I feared that I had lost it.
Normally this rose bush puts out flowers all summer long. Don't know what kind it is, but it is prolific. And hardy as well.
