Sorry mpilnadyful, I think I was having a "senior moment"! You were obviously at the castle outside Tintagel... That kind of place has a real feel good factor doesn't it?
The part I remember best is the ROCK. From the isthmus, climbing right, and up many, many stairs - then walking through the ruins of an old castle and on up to the top of the island. The top was fairly flat. I remember a walled garden and fantastic views and I remember just feeling really good to be there and rather wishing I could have it all to myself.
Thanks fo your comment mpilnadyful. The tin mine I posted was quite a bit further down the north coast, near Chapel Porth and St Agnes, but the remains of the old mines are well scattered throughout Cornwall. Your description of the coastline is perfect! Did you go tp the isles of Scilly I wonder, as Tintagel is on the mainland. Some of the castle ruins are on the left of the photo just above the sea line.
The top of the island is in the left background isn't it? The island and area aound the island has such a rugged and beautiful coastline. It felt good to be there. Thanks for posting this pic.
