Good morning Lady C and Froggy, good evening Neville and Cevas :-)@ Lady C: hope Mr Sandman brought you a dream :-)@ Froggy: Looks like Troubleatmill is good for a travelling show :-)@ Cevas: time for a new DYR :-)
Good night ... to everyone who is going to sleep at this time!! And ... Sleep my friends, don't fear my friends The lion sleeps tonight.
You can call her anything you like Starlord . . . I do . . . lolRest assured that I have increased security and put another bolt on her door. I have also given her a good talking to, upped her medication and she is now tucked up in bed so shouldn't bother you again. I was going to give her a mug of cocoa but she has a tendency to dribble . . . anyone know how to get cocoa stains out of the sheets? Perhaps your housekeeper has some tips LadyC . . . not that you dribble of course . . . :D)Night night everyone . . . sweet dreams . . . :D)
Well good morning Neville and Marge - hope you have a fun Saturday .... Time for Mr Sandman to bring me a dream .... till tomorrow .... good night world :o) cue accordian ....
Oh froggy, wrong head? How do I call the alter ego? Milly? :-)Please request for a written permission to use alter ego's .... Request denied :-)Indeed, Cevas. I thought this was a 3star difficulty and you found it almost instantly. Quite an achievement that was ...But posting them at the same time? At 8 a.m. That's like in the middle of the night for me :-)@ Froggy: did I mention something about alter ego's? I didn't even notice you using one.You better sort Milly out once and for all.ThanksSigning off now, nite nite everyone :-)
Thank you for the warning LadyC . . . I don't want to get on the naughty page again, I've had enough of doing lines for this week. Please don't tell him and perhaps he won't notice . . . :D)It's that Trouble's fault . . . she normally keeps herself to herself and stays in her own little corner allowing me the freedom of wandering around Jigidi to cause confusion, mayhem and absolute chaos but very occasionally she forgets to change her head . . . I'll go and sort her out . . . lol
Hi Lady C! Yes, it was fun! I hope Starlord posts his DYR puzzles at that time more often!! : )
Way to go cevas. It was great when you said, 'I think I know this', and you did. Well done, you deserved your win. And Neville, he is still hanging in there on the board with Starlord. Good fun wasn't it ?
Miss Trouble and Frog, a word in your 'shell-like', Starlord does not permit alter egos. He has expressly forbidden them unless accompanied by his written permission. Just thought I would 'put you in the picture' so to speak. :o)
Thank you Lady C and Trouble & Frog !! It was fun to be part of the race 11 hours ago !!Thank you Ulangariver for giving me all the credit but I think we can share this 'win'!! Eight weeks to go ... how wonderful !!!Thanks again for this puzzle Starlord! I love that song and I have been singing it all day!! I hope your car is okay. It would be a shame if Lady C had to send you another one!! : )
Ooops . . . sorry . . . wrong head. I shall say that again . . . lol . . .
lol . . .
For some reason, I cannot compare 'Da Don' with Ken either :-)
lol Starlord . . . by no stretch of the imagination could I compare Janis Joplin with Barbie . . . ;D)You can never judge a book by it's cover though . . . or perhaps that should be it's title. Take 'The Pink Fairies' for example . . . if you've never heard of them a quick google should put you in the picture (particularly if you link them to Hawkwind, the Isle of Wight Festival 1970 (?) and Canvas City) Despite their name they were definitely not Barbie's . . . ;D)
build in machine guns, flame thrower, ejection seat...Oh no, That's Bond's car :-)
it's a black mafia car, driven by the Don
I think the merc should have a macho name... Something like... Godzilla, Hulk, Defender, Destroyer.... something like that... It's surely not a pimped up, chromed out Barbie wagon.
I am prepared to take installments MajorD . . . lol I couldn't call on you to name your merc Percy . . . in saying that we did have one called Wiggy . . . not after Wigan (the town) nor Sir Wiggo (the cyclist) . . . just number plate based . . . lolPerhaps Janis might be a more fitting name (or Joplin)"Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ? My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends, so Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz . . . "(another member of the "27 Club" that was taken too soon)
Oh I like that, Retiredjan... :-) Your nom-de-plume :-)))))Everyday I consider myself lucky too for being retired. For sale: alarm clock :-)Apparently you love working Pk. Well, so do I. I can watch it for hours in a row :-)Now now Major D.... What name is that for a merc? I thought more in the direction of KITT :-)
sorry T&F I cannot pay you as I have no money left - I've just bought a Mercedes this morning....but I will call it Percy if you like
Well said Jan.... I'm just glad that I have my own Company to run. Small but that's all I need at my age..
Well, Starlord, shame on you! I only put retired in my nom-de-plume to remind myself how lucky I am - there's no danger of me trying to get back to work! You have no idea what a bunch of bananas I had to put up with - no, I'd much rather pit my wits (what are left, that is) with the lovely members of the Jigidi club.
Hate to admit it, but I think it has something to do with my age :-)
I can't believe you forget how to count..... :~))))))
Morning Squish... Indeed, thecalendar said 1961 when these guys scored their hit :-)I cannot believe you let Major D win, Lady C. That's so unlike you :-) You always go in for the ultimate kill. Unless he handed over some banknotes under the table.Just realised I did only posted 3 puzzles indeed. Must have been the eaaarly hour. Or my counting skills went downhill. One - two - three - a lot...Oh Froggy, the pigeon had / has a name too? Percy, what a nice name that is.I've got the impression everyone here is (almost) retired :-) What a bunch of old people we are, butttttt.... still young at heart
Well done Neville and Cevas . . . that was PDQ . . . :D)As for me . . . late again . . . but then I have been mourning the loss of Percy the pigeon. Rest assured I lay no part of the blame on you LadyC . . . :D) As for Major D . . . I feel some sort of recompense is required . . . cash preferable but all 'major' credit cards accepted . . . :D)Did you not realise he was one of your own? Cannibalism I say . . . cannibalism . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRPK425wLuQMy thought on retirement . . . goodbye tension, hello pension! (not my own words . . . it was written on one of my cards when I retired . . . lol)
I noticed starlord has only put up 3 jigs. Is he saving something spectacular for later?
Hope the Oops wasn't painful... My brain and hand-eye co-ordination don't do fast!! I'm only jealous that you guys are Olympic standard, while I'm dishing out the water bottles. Sun's up so I'm feeling sorry for myself. I have to go out all day **&^£$) shopping with No,2 child. Aaaaagggghhhhhh!
Hi squishy. LOL we had a bit of a race this morning and the Major got to 20 whilst I was at 28 - there was more dialogue but it's deleted now as it's meaningless. I said I would let the Major win today but I had an 'oops' moment trying to reach 21. LOL
Morning all! Wow! Sepia! OK, so what's all this, fastest-to-finish-it stuff? You'll get RSI or Carpel Tunnel Syndrome if you're not careful. ;-))) Only jealous 'cos I have a steam-powered mouse ;-((
Bet his neighbour installed a fast internet connection :-)I'm pretty sure you can do it in 19 though :-)Noblesse oblige, Lady C :-)Don't forget that
Aha ! So YOU are mamere :o)
I don't want to show off - I do it in 10 secs, then wait 10 before I put the final piece in....:)
It's not a case of giving up Starlord, I did say in front of the whole world that I would let the Major win today. The Major did reach 20 first, my apologies again Major :))))
You surely aren't giving up now, Lady C... :-)You're nearly there
You've all given me some marvellous chuckles tonight. Thank you.
Yes major, my apologies, I forgot to look at the clock and put the last piece in at 21 but I will stop there ......Yes Neville polishing jewels, dusting off certificates and statues ... never ending you know
And don't forget the polishing of the jewels, lady c.
Naaa, Major D, she isn't :-) Lady C would never use another nick. That would be below her dignity :-)Guess they're only parties for highbrow people, like high ranked officers and so.I never received an invitation anyway :-((((
what about your comment 'I shall let you win today :)))))))' ?
Well I would like to say I've retired but castles and estates always need your time, parties to organise and the shooting season soon - never ending .......
I agree Retiredjan :-) You're so pleased with it that you even put it in your nick, in case you might forget one day and leave for work :-)
I've never been so busy Jan :)
I think Mamere never comments because she's French :-)
You hot shots make me laugh! But I do have to tell you - retirement is grand!
I bet she is mamere too....mamere never comments
Guess not, Major D... Lady C is closing in on you...And when you refresh, you won't know what hit you...Told you she's a ninja, silent and merciless :-)
I'm happy, lady c & MajorDon. I had about 10 minutes of glory, just for logging on early!!
we are all counting for Neville
Now now, this cannot be true. Lady C beaten by Major D by 8 seconds? Wonder how much he paid her to lose :-) Oh, she sat next to you on the retirement briefing? Bet she wanted half of your pension :-)You made me LOL Neville when you wrote: who's counting? Looks to me like you're even counting the hours :-)But let me assure you, being retired is just great.
I'm only on top until mamere gets here!
Ahhhh sorry Neville but you were first just for a little while.
Hi Neville - I had the best job in the world for my last job (well parts of it) but I admit to having a count down chart, and ticked the days off. One of my last days was a finance briefing for retirement and there was an empty chair next to me and fortunately Lady C came through the door - to sit next to me, not to do the briefing
Yes, I wondered how long I'd stay on top with 35. My thoughts were: "Lucky the 'champs' aren't here yet......."
Thank you for the plaudits, lady c, but it was all the work of cevas. I just happened to know the name of the band who sang it, after she mentioned the name of the song. Yes, eight weeks to go, or 240 hours (but who is counting?!). I only work a 30-hour week, as a permant part-time employee now. My working week concludes at 1:00pm Thursday, so I get a three-and-a-half day long-weekend, every week. Been doing that since late 2009, when the Company agreed to it. Sixteen years with this lot now.
Shan't beat that, I shall let you win today :)))))))
Wooo hooo MajorDon 20 - way to go
Morning all. I wouldn't have got it but tears of nostalgia roll down my cheeks as I see the answer. In Singapore in 1962 at the swimming pool, when you took your empty pop bottle back to the stall you could either get a packet of PK chewing gum or put the 5 cents in the juke box, press E5 - and play the lion sleeps tonight. Happy Days :)
Well done Cathy and Neville - as Aggie would say - "way to go" :)))
I'll be singing it for another few minutes ... then I'll be asleep!Good night Starlord and Starlord fans!! : )))))or should I say good morning !!
And I always wondered how "wimmaway" was spelt.
1961 ? That is such a loooong time ago :-)But I still remember it :-)Bet you'll be singing it all day nowawi mawe awi mawe :-)
Thank you Starlord!! I hope all goes well with your car. : )
You are welcome, cevas. The Lion Sleeps tonight was probably the hit of the year here in Oz - it got to No.2 in December '61.
I am early indeed, Lady C :-) Have to take the car to the garage for maintenance :-)Wowwww Cevas.... incredible... I honestly never thought anyone would find it without clues.Indeed, like Neville says, they're The Tokens. Very well done and an applause is coming your way :-)And that solves today's Mystery Guests :-)
Thank you Ulangariver!! I'm not usually awake when this game is played! This is so exciting!!!!
Yes, you are quite right cevas - it does. You picked it earlier I am sure - The Tokens.
Does it have something to do with a sleeping lion?
Good morning Starlord, good morning world, evening Neville and Marge (8 weeks to go Neville). You are early this morning Starlord .....
It is pretty old indeed, Retiredjan :-)Good evening Neville. I found images of this band with 5, 4 and 3 people :-)And I know of one hit. But that was a big one
I think I know this one!!!!!!
Good morning starlord, and all starlord fans. Fascinating photo - the three younger ones look like brothers. But that puts me no closer to solving it.
Wow, this looks pretty old - even I don't recognise them! The boy front right could be a young Paul Simon though?
