Bright, yes, when it is males, the female cardinal is much more subdued, as are some of the juveniles. So it is a mix of red, and a golden brown with some red.

Must have been nicely bright red around your feeder. We dont have birds as red as that. Just the woodpecker, but he is only partially red. And the robin ofcourse, but that red is much more muted.
Yes. They are the most numerous birds at our feeder. Although at times we have had 14 to 17 cardinals around the feeder, either on the edge of the feeding tray, or waiting in the branches of the shrub nearby.
