Why are you reporting this puzzle?

My first attempt, in my favorite colors. I can see where the name came from, it seems to go very slowly and take lots of yarn.

Thank you Rebecca. I'll try it! Have a wonderful day. Blessings, Kathy

Here's a slightly similar stitch I'm trying to learn now - very complicated, and takes up even more yarn than wooleater. http://www.mypicot.com/4040.html I like the layered look.

Rebecca, I love this stitch! I have been crocheting for years but have never ran into this particular stitch. I'll have to go looking for it! It's beautiful! Blessings! Kathy

Hi Gail. I'm so-so about it. It would have been better in lighter weight yarn, and I think I might have liked it better with even more colors, or as 3-or-4-row squares of different colors. But it will keep some Senior super-warm! Have you done this stitch?

Gaillou

Did you like this stitch, Becky?

RebeccaB

Thanks Gina, now I'm making baby booties - MUCH cooler!

PuzzleG

Hi Rebecca, this is very pretty, you're doing a great job, but I don't blame you for waiting til it's cooler to finish it. Yellow is my favorite color, & it looks nice with these shades of blue. Now I'm even more convinced not to try this stitch, as I prefer fairly fast & easy ones myself. This will make a nice cozy lap robe for some senior to snuggle up in this coming winter. Blessings, Gina in Oregon, USA

Wow, that sounds just about right for Goofie's fur coat! Here we have 92, or 33 C. :P Also bad ozone today, and high humidity too. :PP A good day to sit around, read, and make plans for cooler days...

Impie

You could really use it if you were overhere....it's only 13°C. these last few days, I guess the sun went on holiday to a warmer country! :))

RebeccaB

Thanks Impie - but now I must put it away for cooler weather - it's gotten too big & hot to have on my lap. :(

Impie

It's a great result for a first attempt Rebecca. I like the pattern and the colours mixed like this are really nice!

RebeccaB

Yes, jojosmom417, apparently it has 4 or 5 names, maybe more, including Bavarian stitch. I wonder how old it is?

I think I have enough yarn to make a lap robe - the yarn, being 4 ply & not too soft, isn't really suited for a baby blanket. We donate lap robes to area nursing homes every year, and like to make them all different.

lockcutter

I don't think I'll go much farther on mine as I was using left over pieces of yarn. Are you going to make a large afghan or a baby afghan?
I agree some puzzles have inspired me to find a pattern like "the puzzle" and try it. (in reply to your comment on my puzzle).

jojosmom417

RebeccaB, is this the same stitch known as Bavarian Stitch? It is very pretty.

RebeccaB

Thanks everyone - I've also seen pictures of squares of 3 rows, like yours lockcutter, in all different colors, put together like granny squares, and I like that too.

lockcutter

The colors are very soft and pretty. It does take a lot of yarn. The more rows you do the faster it will go.

Beautiful Rebecca .
