Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Oh boy! There is definitely going to be a learning curve and a lot of getting use to this new computer. I have no earthly idea if everything is set and am just experimenting. This is the first try at making a puzzle with the newbie. Don't know if I will be able to figure out how to get into my other avatar, Hummingbird592, as I have forgotten my password. Tried to reset the password and it kept coming back to the Hummingbird59 login. Will definitely keep trying. LOL

Thanks so much for the best wishes. It turned out to be a defective computer so they had another one in stock and are now transferring all the data to that one. Glad that I had gotten the Geek Squad Plan Plus because if I hadn't they would have had to send it back to the factory and that could take 2 or 3 weeks to get it back. The plan also covered them having to transfer the data again.

I was rather aggravated with the Geek Squad Saturday evening. The first lady that answered the phone automatically said to return it to Best Buy without even looking into the problem. I explained that our nearest BB was over an hour drive away and I had to actually ask for a remote assist. I was then told that the average wait time was 2 hours 41 minutes and that I needed to keep a close eye on the computer screen so that I would know when the connection came in. She mentioned something about they might call or ping when they were ready but that didn't do that. I have to give the tech guy credit though. He tried and tried for about 2 hours to get the problem fixed. I asked if the problem was a frequent one and he said yes that had to do with Windows update. (Of course at this time we were unaware that it was due to a faulty mechanical problem).

At least the guys at the store said that they seldom see a faulty screen and was surprised when we carried it back. Hopefully it will be ready either today or tomorrow. Eager to have it back. Definitely glad I bought the protection plan this time :-)

Oh, rats! I hate to hear that your new puter is on the fritz already. I hope it isn't a design problem. Sure hope the Geek Squad can get it fixed quickly, properly, and permanently.

Cobbscout, I can't believe it but my new computer is already headed to repair. The touch screen and table mode has stopped working on it. It only worked for 3 or 4 days after I bought it home. Have already called the Geek Squad and they were unable to fix the problem by remote assistance. So back to Best Buy it goes. Hope it doesn't take to long to get it back.

Thank you, Kathy, for all of the information about your new computer. I linked over to the description and it looks like you picked a very good one. It has received a lot of excellent reviews. Funny that it is a HP Envy because I have a 2nd printed and it is a HP Envy.

When I had to replace my last desktop I almost went with the laptop but didn't think I was ready for W10 so I got another Lenovo desktop. Thanks for sharing your information about the Envy. Enjoy!

Cobbscout, I got the HP Envy x360. Here is a link to it:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-envy-x360-2-in-1-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-natural-silver/4221702.p?id=1219708600904&skuId=4221702

It weighs 5.06 pounds and is less than 1" in depth and has a 15.6" screen, 8gb memory, and 1tb hard drive. It is an Intel Core i7. The 2 in 1 means that it can be used as a laptop and also used as a tablet. It came with Windows 10 on it. They had this one on sale so I got it for $100 less than the price listed on the link above. It also came with a 1 year free Webroot security system that Best Buy strongly recommends:

The computer is basically solid silver. I am learning things every day with it. Oh, the backlit keyboard can be turned on and off. When you flip it to use the tablet mode, the keyboard on the other side turns off. It did not come with a built-in DVD/CD drive but one can be purchased for less than $30 if you think you might need one.

I will check the model number on mine with the model number on the link I gave you tomorrow and if they are different from each other, I will let you know.

I would imagine that next year more computers will come out with larger Solid State Drives (SSD), but right now the SSD's are still rather expensive.

I just Googled the trackball mouse as I had never heard of one. Very interesting!!! It could probably be used with a laptop?

Cobbscout

Hi Kathy I'm a fan of the Geek Squad. They've saved my life on my computer a couple of times.

It's nice to hear that you are liking your new setup. I haven't bitten the bullet yet and gone to W10. I'm not sure about the touch screen feature since I have some physical issues. I use a trackball mouse. But the backlit, lighter weight keyboard sounds nice. And so does the screen. What make & model did you go with? And what do you mean by "2 in 1"?

Hummingbird59

Cobbscout, I am afraid that I fall way short of being an expert. LOL I took the easy way out and had the Best Buy guys transfer the data to the new computer. Some programs made it and some didn't, so still working on that. This on has Windows 10 instead of Windows 7 and is also a 2 in 1. I have never used a touch screen or tablet. I love the backlit keyboard and this one is lighter in weight than the old one. Oh, and I love the new screen. You can see the image no matter what angle you are looking from! I think all in all, I may just end up loving this new computer. Now I just need to learn all the new features. LOL

Thanks you Cobbscout, Daffy, and Greatgranny for your support/comments and solving the puzzle. Very, very much appreciated!!!!

You did a great job love it thank you.

daffy

Great job. Love the layered look with the frames around each piece. I will be looking forward to your future puzzles with the new computer.

Cobbscout

You are an expert considering you are using a new computer. I hope you enjoy the new 'puter.
