Interesting, Dagmar/ I didn't know they would live away from water for very long. This was from the Ocean City weekend back in October. Thanks for coming by.
A nice photo of gulls Ardy, we also have got loads of gulls, and big ones at that, right in the interior of Spain. The next open sea is at least 300km away, they live on the rubbish dumps or better from the rubbish a big city like Madrid generates each day. I wonder where they sleep, I see and hear them flying but always far away never as close as this.
I think I've seen them too often attacks Hanne.
Hanne, We are close enough to water that when there is a storm on the Chesapeake Bay the gulls come inland. They like to meet on our playground at school. I do love to watch them soar.
Ank, why do you think they are bad birds? I must say that I like them very much we have had them make flying displays very often when we fed them something and they came close. Of course they are brash and do what we think to be naughty but that's how they survive and certainly they do FINE. They are everywhere even in the coldest areas of Lappland! I think your experience with them is very funny Ardy, it's exactly what people in Roenne experiences when they sit out having something cake/ lunch whatever. They simply come down and snatch things from the dish!!
That was many years ago, Ank. Now I watch others feed them by throwing French fries or bread in the air which the gulls catch before it hits the ground.
You better don't do that anymore Ardy, Gulls ar not that kind. In fact they are bad birds. Nice to look at them, but on distance. Ik like the picture.
Hanne, I've had one take food from my hand. We were in Maine. I was bent down with a piece of bread i my hand trying to coax one on the ground to come get it. My other hand also holding a piece of bread was extended up behind me to help balance me. My friends didn't warn me but just watched as another gull flew down and grabbed the piece in the raised hand. They stood there and laughed at my startled and amazed expression. I love to watch the gulls. You are welcome, Hanne.
Did you ever come so close to one of them that you FEEL how BIG they really are?? I've got deep respect for them and their beaks!! Thanks so very much Ardy!!
You're very welcome, Pat. Don't work too hard today. Hugs.
Great picture Ardy thanks...
Nice shot ringleader.
