You are very welcome. Found it and replied.
Thank you so very much, Ardy! I'm so glad that I got to see you up close and personal. I left you a little message on it.
Thanks, Ank. Been over to your place.
Hi Ardy glad to see you. And the worst is passed. I'm happy for you. Have a great day.
Thanks Dagmar and Hanne. Could still lose power for a bit as the crews work to restore it to the thousands without power. The worst of the storm has passed here. But there are millions still being affected.
But Ardy, you are on!! Congratulations!! Then you have avoided the worst!! Oh just SO good!! Am I glad to see you here!!
Hi Ardy I just saw you at Kirsten's place and just came round to tell you I'm glad that you are all right and that you think that the worst might be over. Now I must get back to work and I wish you a wonderful Tuesday with lots of Jigidi and no powercuts. :))
Hi Gail. These were children I was working with ages 10-14 for the most part. We did do some neat things. It's surprising what you could do when pushed and supported and encouraged. We did have a good time. I very seldom play now. I get them out occasionally to see if I still remembering the fingering.for both types. Thanks for coming by here.
I used to play both the alto and soprano recorders. I never was good enough to do anything like you did though.
Wendy, Hope I've done this correctly.
Oh, Dagmar, I'd have loved to evacuate to Spain. Thanks for making me welcome. Now if my passport were up-to-date. I keep telling myself that I need to take care of that but just don't get around to it. Probably because I don't expect to go anyplace where I'll need one.
Someplace I have a tape of a radio program we did. I should find it and have it put on a CD. I had lots of fun with these three students for 4 years.
Thanks for coming by. You solved this in less than half the time it took me!
Pat, between my area and yours in the mountains they are expecting 12-18 inches of snow. Actually western Maryland too. The storm should be past here by Wed. afternoon. Don't know how long it will take to get power back on. So far, so good - obviously, I'm still on Jigidi!!!
Hi Ardy, I'm following your situation on the news and on the Internet and the more I see the more I think you shoud have evacuated to sunny Spain for a week you would have been most welcome here. :)) Let's hope it won't be half as bad as they pedict. :))
I would have love to hear you play. I also used to play the recorder at school, but I was never very good at it. :)) You look lovely in your costume.
So far I don't think so but we have had rain all night and it's really cold but I think that is the system that's going to mix with the strom the east coast is getting. But on the other hand if you look at the weather map we are getting it too.
Good morning Pat. You hadn't posted yet when I needed to get breakfast etc. So far all's well. If I don't show up tomorrow you'll know the inevitable has happened! Hope all will be well with you as the storm sweeps your direction.
Good afternoon, Goingsilver. I had to laugh at your sister's relief with your change from descant to tenor. I understand only too well. Thanks for coming by.
It's raining steadily now. The worst of the storm is expected late this afternoon and through the night. Metro has closed as have the schools and government offices. An interesting situation just before a major election next week!!! So far I have electric power but expect it will go as the winds pick up later today. It happens too frequently to be much more than a nuisance.
Hope everything is going ok this morning.
I used to love playing my recorder, not that I was ever very good, but I think my sister especially was relieved when I moved from the descant to the tenor!
I have read with interest your preparations for the forthcoming storm; it makes for scary viewing on the news here in the UK - glad to hear you will be ok!
Hi Hanne. I found your comment at your place. Glad you got over here. I'd forgotten I ever looked that young. LOL Thanks for coming by.
Hi Ank. I left a note on your walk puzzle today. Storm's worst bit is expected late today and through the night.
We crossed Ardy! I was writing it while you were writing yours. I really do hope you'll go and see it, I think you will be very touched by it!! Oh well, I'm talking about the kåte picture of today!!
Hi Ardy. How are things going? Did the storm arrive? Hope everything goes well with you. Take care and stay in.
Thanks Pat. When I had both recorders and bells I would do some music with both of them. Did one piece for church once where the recorders ;played the choral parts and the bells did the accompaniment. Really neat. That was back when we had a full time music educator. Fourth graders learned recorders. Those who were interested could join the ensemble in fifth grade. Several would and most stayed on through 8th grade. We did some really neat stuff including one piece in 10 parts. Now it's the bells that excite me.
Good looking group. Was reading the comments. Would love to hear the recorders and the bells. The bells have always amazed me. Thanks for sharing the picture.
Glad you enjoyed the puzzle. Thanks for your thoughts. I just made a pot of lentil stew. I have a gas stove so can cook and heat things. I also hard cooked most of the eggs so they will keep a little longer if I lose power. The county has closed the schools for Monday and Tuesday. I have a fireplace and wood. Guess I'm as ready as I can be.
Very nice, thanks.
Sorry to see that you are in the storm field too. I'm afraid it will not be much of help but I will think of you. I wish you strength.
Thanks Hanne. I'm not in any real danger. There is one tall maple tree in the yard next door but it's a fairly young tree. There really are no really big trees that could fall near me. There could be some inconvenience and discomfort from power outages and/or water in the basement. If I do get water in the basement I'll unplug the computer and move it to a higher level but that part almost never floods. The time I remember that it did was when we left a hose running on that side of the house. I don't even have a hose there anymore and have turned off that outside faucet when I found someone was helping themselves to my water that I had to pay for. No problem with that since then.
I had a great time with these three students. The group grew until I had 12 or so and then began to dwindle as students lost interest and so did I. By that time I was really involved with handbells and so let the recorders die a natural death. I still get mine out and play sometimes. I have 6 sizes of recorder. My favorites are the alto and the bass..
It's WONDERFUL, Ardy!! So fine you were and I bet you played like heaven!! Thanks so very much - and good luck with Sandy!! We've just checked her out, I'm worried about you really!!
My first recorder group. That's me, thirty years ago. We played several gigs in those costumes.
