Thanks for sharing. Here is your html-code:

Why are you reporting this puzzle?

I created all of the elements for this puzzle. The kaleidos were made from textures I made from scratch, and the colours are just colours - with some added radiance!

It gives me immense pleasure making puzzles, and I hope it gives you pleasure solving them. (•‿•)

♥ Confirming read and understood. See you on other puzzles.
Over and out. ☺

Oh, Francine. I'm glad you understand. I've tried very hard to articulate how I feel, but I don't feel that it's been very well understood. It DOES feel soul-destroying, if I'm completely honest. I don't like to express that too much on Jigidi - I prefer to keep things light-hearted. After all, Jigidi is meant to be my escape place. But there are times when I look at those of my puzzles that I adore - that I couldn't make any more beautiful, no matter how hard I tried - and I feel what really feels like stab in the heart when I see how few people were interested in solving them.

Oh, gosh. I feel like I've said too much here. I don't want to think about it any more. I hope you don't mind if I leave it there. But thanks again for understanding. It means a lot to me. More than you could possibly know. (•‿•)

Oh Kirsten, sad! I read all your comments and feel for you. It is a soul-destroying situation. (-:

RandomWorship

Oh, I feel so guilty that you are apologising for "chit chat"! Please don't! I'll manage, somehow. Although, having said that, I am a bit pressed for time. So I hope you don't mind if I answer in bullet point style.

I agree that if I just made puzzles "for the solves", it would probably be very unsatisfying from a creative perspective. But, conversely, I still find it a little soul-destroying when my puzzles aren't well received. I tried to explain it here:
http://www.jigidi.com/puzzle.php?id=399IXE7M
And hope that will help to explain better, how I feel.

Thanks for the info re elements. I guess if I went down that route, I would probably buy the most current one, and hope for the best. I did download GIMP sometime ago, and as best as I can see - it works very similarly to other "layer based" programs. I haven't explored it much, for the same reasons I haven't explored PhotoShop too much - and that is that I can't be bothered finding all of the plugins that create the effects I like - when my current program (paint.net) now has them all! Well, enough for now anyway. LOL Oh, but thanks for your offer of help! It's kind and generous of you.

And I didn't know that Shirley uses a multitude of programs. I thought she used elements for everything! It's amazing to think that when I started out on Jigidi, she was posting photos of her beautiful lace - and I don't think knew how to create any digital art! She's come a long way in a short period of time!! Must dash now! I have 20 minutes between now and when I need to make dinner, and loads of comments to reply to! Thanks again, Francine. I think it's really generous of you to take the time to pass on this information, and generous to offer to help. (•‿•)

Sorry, Kirsten. One more message from me. (I know you're busy and don't have time for all this chitchat.)

Firstly, I think you and I are similar in that we make our images to please ourselves and not the puzzle solvers (though it's gratifying to feel our stuff is liked ... and consequently, the gauge is the number of solves). Would assume most puzzle posters have that attitude.

As you, I spend considerable hours playing with my stuff. Many of mine don't appeal to the majority of puzzle solvers. Oh well ~ that can't be helped! I have to stay true to myself, because if I don't, then the derived fun will dwindle.

Enough of me. If I may, Kirsten: as long as you're having fun and deriving satisfaction with whatever you design, that'll feel right for you. Everything you make is special; you certainly don't take shortcuts nor give us anything mediocre.

Lastly, programs. My Adobe PhotoShop Elements is version 10. Michelle uses #12. Though I'm happy with mine there are flaws & glitches with my program. Frustrating and limiting. (BTW, in past, I checked with both Michelle and Shirley and neither had problems with their different Elements version.)

I remember once mentioning Gimp (online available and free) to you. I don't know it well; consequently am using it unsmartly and to a limited degree. Again, it's not the most user friendly program. (My offer to help you still stands, should you ever want to play with that one.)

Those are the only two programs that I know and use. In your case, whatever programs work for you! Your work certainly doesn't show any lack of toys/filters. I can't imagine how many different programs are out there. They must have overlapping features and are probably 90+% similar. Kaleidoscopes in a different category, of course. (I still haven't taken the time to play with that style. Not to post often, perhaps to try it once. It's fascinating. Though for me, solving kaleido puzzles are difficult. Being repetitive, sorry.)

There is great work posted isn't there?! We're all improving.
(BTW, you probably are aware that Shirley doesn't limit herself to one program. She's extremely versatile. I mentioned her though many other posters rely on an array of programs. Too many names to start mentioning, especially when you already know them. ☺)

I'm talked out. ☺
Bye. Mentally sending you the Yahoo e-mail waving emoticon. :))

I'm kind of wondering about the effort in creating my "lovingly made kaleidos" though, Francine. My few minutes to make "And Now for Something Completely Different" puzzle has found 340 solvers in only two sizes! Meanwhile the kaleidos in the "Sweet Kaleido tiles" that I slaved over and adore and posted in four sizes, has just reached 360. I feel like it's more evidence of the "crowded kaleido market". And makes me continue to question the efforts involved in making them.

Anyway.......... I really appreciate you taking the time to share with me an effect - that serendipitously led to my ANFSCD (I can't be bothered typing it all out again. LOL) puzzle. And perhaps one day I should check out elements. I still prefer my program to PhotoShop though. Which puts me off exploring any of the other Adobe products. Although, you and the others that use it produce such beautiful images. Perhaps I'd better set aside my bias. LOL (•‿•)

bookish

I love that 'And now for something completely different' puzzle, even though I'm very aware it took considerably less time to design compared to your lovingly-made kaleidoscopes. So glad you took the time to play with your filter. Sometimes it's fun doing something out of our element. (no pun intended - that's the name of my photo-editing program.)

RandomWorship

Maybe Francine, I know they do very different things, depending on what shape you start with, and even the orientation. When I use it on horizontal stripes, it creates bullseyes. And when I use it on vertical stripes, it creates windmills! I'll have to keep playing. But thanks for the suggestion yesterday. It led to my "And now for something completely different" puzzle. I was trying out the options that I thought could be what you used, and it created the beginning of that look - which led me to a better filter to do it with. And voila! Happy days! LOL

And our winter is nothing like yours. Our days have mostly been in the low teens, and our nights rarely below 5, and mostly around 8 or 9. Although we have had quite a chilly wind over the last few weeks, which happily for our snowfields has produced loads of snow! Glad to hear your summer is being glorious. I fear our next one is going to be fearful!

And what can I do about my work? I'm still paying off my mortgage - and then have a retirement to fund!! But I would dearly love to work less days in the week. around 4 sounds perfect to me. Uh, oh? Is that the phone I hear? It's the bank manager saying "Yeah, riiiiiiiight"!! LOL

Thanks for swinging by - it's been lovely chatting. I hope all is well in your world. You take care too. (•‿•)

bookish

Hi Kirsten, perhaps you do have the capabilities. It was by playing with the different options in Polar Coordinate that I discovered this. ...Gorgeous summer days, these days. Hope your winter isn't too harsh for you. What a horrible work schedule for you. Bye and take care. :)

RandomWorship

Hi Francine! That's so kind of you to share that with me. I don't see a Polar Coordinate filter in my program - just filters that do variations of "polar to rect" and reverse. Maybe PhotoShop has it - which I stopped using, because I actually prefer my other program. Thanks again! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and let me know that. I hope all is well in your world. (•‿•)

Good evening, Kirsten. Glad you liked the perspective in my 'boxed in' puzzle. Easily done and if you're interested this is how. Polar Coordinate. Perhaps one of your programs has that facility, though by another name.

Excellent plan! You might have a deal!! LOL And enjoy your dinner, I just finished mine. (•‿•)

I'll come & rescue you!! --Oh Oh - chef's calling me for dinner - see you later! Cheer, Janet

RandomWorship

It sounds like a blast! And no! I'm afeared of trying The Room! I might never be seen on Jigidi again! LOL

GoldenCat

Thanks for the link Kirsten - yes, I had read about this in - don't know where exactly. It sounds a whole lot of fun doesn't it! Have you tried The Room yet? Cheers, Janet

RandomWorship

So glad you enjoyed it Janet! And done deal! I WON'T tell you how I created the brilliance. LOL And my birthday was easy to survive. I'm a bit ho hum about it really, ever since I hit the big 50 a few years back. The really big celebrations were held here - in Jigidi! (•‿•)

And I have to tell you about an article in Saturday's (I think) Age. I looked for it online and can only find the one from it's northern sister, the Sydney Morning Herald. But it's the same article, so it doesn't matter.

Wanna book tickets? LOL (~‿•)

GoldenCat

Thanks Kirsten - another lovely one - how on earth do you get the colours to glow - no, don't tell me, I will just enjoy the magic!
Hope you have survived all the birthday excitement. We have a marathon coming up with four people in the family all having birthdays within a couple of weeks of each other.
Cheers, Janet

RandomWorship

Thanks Gail! Actually the texture making is easier now that I worked out which filters will make good "kaleido fodder", as I tend to think of it! LOL And I agree with you about the top left. It's definitely the seaside colours. And it's one of my faves too. (•‿•)

Gaillou

Love the colors and all the designs. It's amazing that you make your own textures. I'm so impressed. These kaleidos have such clear details. My favorites are the purple kaleido on the right side and the blue at top left. For some reason that one makes me think of the sea and beach.

RandomWorship

I know what you mean, Davon. It took a long time for me to stop missing the routine of the daily contact. I hope all goes well with the house. It took us a long time to be able to face selling Jack's house. Around 18 months. So I think you guys are doing amazingly well to be able to be doing that now. Take care. ❤

RandomWorship

Gosh Shirley! Look at you on the big un! I didn't know you like the big sizes!! And can I have another hour Aunty Shirley? I don't have to be in bed until 10:30 pm. Pleeeeeeeaase? LOL

davie

Things are getting better. I think I will miss the Sunday morning phone calls from father for a while yet. My sister is still down there trying to settle things but has been there since early May. Regardless of whether or not his place sells, she is going home next week. Thanks for asking. And thanks always for your puzzles.

Shian2

Now do as your Mum said! Kirsten, LOL, off to bed Kirsten.

RandomWorship

Thanks mum!! LOL And my birthday was fine, thank you. I hope all is well with you too, Davon. (•‿•)

davie

Lovely. Okay, you can go to bed now and get some well earned sleep. And I hope your birthday was lovely.
