Thanks Brie, Jan and pumpkinhead. It was very exciting - my first ten star!!
I've got a snapshot so should turn that into a puzzle really :o)

pumpkinhead

congratulations on your 10 ***********

RetiredJan

Fantastic - a 10-star! (And congratulations Empy on your new star) What a compliment to your leadership, Lady C!

Brie1648

Late in - no time for coffee this morning, had to go to the airport to collect my friend - that was the day gone - but congratulations on a 10 star!! Woohoo!!

ladycharnley

Thanks Aggie :))))))))

aggie

Well done, ladyc :-))

ladycharnley

Thank you Major Don - isn't it exciting ?

ladycharnley

Empy2 - congratulations on your star and thank you very much :)))

MajorDon

well done with your 10 star lady C

ladycharnley

Oh thank you Jan, that's very kind of you to say - thank you very much and night night to you too, pleasant dreams x

And a very good morning to you Aggie. Yes have another coffee while you contemplate your day and thank you too for your comments :o)

aggie

Good morning ladyc and fellow DYR's. Well done ladyc on your choice this morning - congrats to Squishy. Still very early in the a.m. here may give this one another go after a coffee (or two) :-))

RetiredJan

Yes, my bedtime too but very well done Lady C on a fantastic 10 and Neville, don't worry it was entirely a fluke that I got a 14 and I've been trying so hard to better that to no avail. So my admiration goes to Lady C, Brie and Major Don and a very goodnight to you...

ulangariver

Good on you lady c - and a brilliant 10 if I may say so myself. It's nighty-nights for me now (9:40pm) as it's the usual 5:15am rise for work in the morning. No time to play with mice at that time of the day.

ladycharnley

And just for good measure - 10 - until we get a visitor :)

ladycharnley

Perhaps you can't get to 15 Neville because your mouse has over imbibed as you say. Have another go in the morning when your mouse has slept it off :) Night night ...

Well done Jan :)

ulangariver

You are a "cut above" me, RetiredJan. I can't get to 15, but you have gotten to 14. I salute you.

ulangariver

Thank you lady c. Knew you could do it.
Celestina, the best rendition of The Star Spangled Banner that I ever heard was by the Dixie Chicks at The Superbowl, several years ago. It has forever remained in my memory.

ladycharnley

This one Celestina?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KebmrZu8nDQ

ladycharnley

Hi Celestina, no I haven't heard that one by Boston but I will have a look for it on you tube.

There you go Neville 11 just for you.

Speaking of "a second national anthem" Neville, has anybody heard BOSTON's amazing rendition of The Star Spangled Banner? What a blast! It's a powerful, respectful, hard-hitting in-your-face national anthem that I happen to love.

RetiredJan

Woo-hoo!

RetiredJan

You have no idea how many times I've been trying to get down to 14, Neville! No luck, I just can't do better - wait til Lady C has had her breakfast - she'll show us how it's done!

RetiredJan

I do remember that time very well, Neville. The excitement, the euphoria - and our PM promising the day off for everyone! We've got a glass replica of Australia II in fact, a reminder of that thrilling episode, and of course Icehouse's song. Our cousins in NZ did very well this time around but it would be good for Oz to have another shot - and repeat our '83 victory!

ulangariver

I've been trying to catch RetiredJan's 15, lady c, but alas with no success. I'll have to settle for 16 tonight, the best I can do. [The mouse has over-imbibed, I think!]

ladycharnley

I wasn't going to do the puzzle Neville but yes, I will solve it and try to get 11 for you. But first, I need some tea and toast - it was too early when I published and now I'm ready to eat.

ulangariver

O.K., lady c, now that all the 'fluff and flummery' is over and done with, will you accept Brie1648's challenge of 11 seconds? Put that mouse to work.

ulangariver

Yes, RetiredJan, I thought Great Southern Land was their very best effort too, much like a second national anthem. You might recall it was played on the radio, almost non-stop, when Australia won the America's Cup Yacht Trophy in 1983, when we beat the U.S. for the first time in about 160 years.

RetiredJan

Oh, Neville, I couldn't be cross with you! Especially as I didn't pick them at first either! (Should've recognised Iva Davies.) I really loved Great Southern Land.

ladycharnley

Comments crossed. Thank you Nevlle :o)

ladycharnley

OK Neville, I will take your word for it and give you the benefit of the doubt. I might have been a little too hasty in jumping to the wrong conclusion but it is Sunday.

ulangariver

I think you are a fabulous space-cadet for starlord, lady c. Really looking forward to tomorrow's puzzle.

ulangariver

Lady c, you must have led a sheltered life (like me, LOL). The Vibrators were not some 'novelty' in my mind, they were actually a pop group. And they were English too, formed in London in 1976, disbanded in '78, and re-formed in 1982. Two members were in Bazooka Joe (mentioned by patsquire), Pat Collier (bass/vocals) & John Ellis (guitar/vocals). They were joined by another guitarist/vocalist Knox Ian Carnochan (formerly of Lipstick) and a drummer known simply as Eddie. {See, I don't make up these stories - Ji-Gideons are never untruthful.}

MajorDon

I think you are very good at it - no gaps - no doggy walks, nipping out for a fag and a croissant :) Long live the king

ladycharnley

Would anyone else like to publish Do you remember tomorrow? I don't want to hog all the limelight :o)

ladycharnley

Looking at your times on the leaderboard, there are a few turbo mice out there :))))))))

ulangariver

Icehouse had six big hits here in Oz, from '81-'85. Hey Little Girl (No.8 in '82) and Great Southern Land (No.7, same year) were their biggest.

ladycharnley

Gosh I'm blushing now patsquire
Apologies accepted Major Don
Neville - no excuses !!

ulangariver

I'm disappointed I didn't recognise Iva Davies (the front man). And subsequently was researching English groups. But full plaudits go to you, squishy, for a super effort. I thought you would be rather cross with me, RetiredJan, for not getting Icehouse, but as you said, you didn't recognise them either.

MajorDon

sorry but had a late night - watching excellent footie on Match of the Day. Man U in crisis

patsquire

That's why we love you ma'am, you're so sweet!

ladycharnley

Good morning Major Don, I waited for you for a little bit before publishing :)

MajorDon

According to some Royal Navy personnel I knew, the largest vibrator in the world was HMS Illustrious

ladycharnley

Come on Neville what does your book say about them :o)
Tut tut, the Vibrators indeed !!!

MajorDon

Good morning everyone, Brava Squishy with the star,
Sorry I'm late - Sunday zzzzzzzzz

ladycharnley

Sorry patsquire, you were miles out but I was trying to let you down gently

RetiredJan

Very well done, Squishy! and nice one, Neville!

ladycharnley

Proobear, I thought you knew who they were when you said I was rattling the cobwebs :)))

ladycharnley

Hi RetiredJan - yes they are Australian, and I posted them just for you Neville !!!
Well done Squishy you can do the smarty pants dance all day today :)

patsquire

So other than being backwards and wrong about a dozen times, I'm right on top of it!

squishy2

Woop woop!!! Thank you, ladyc and patsquire - sorry forgot to refresh, doh!

squishy2

I thought they were German at first - reminded me of Kraftwerk

RetiredJan

Good evening/morning all. Late today as we've just returned from home after visiting our daughter on the other side of Brisbane. If it's Icehouse I should have recognised them - but I do know their music at least. Welcome Proobear, nice to see another Aussie - did you see Riverfire last night?

ladycharnley

They were formed in 1977 as Flowers but adopted the name Icehouse in 1981 - here is a track - Hey Little Girl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKDYyFf1s0I

patsquire

Yep, squish's got them Icehouse, now Flowers. Nice work!

ladycharnley

Squishy yeeeesssss - well done - it is Icehouse - take a bow to a round of applause

ladycharnley

Sorry gents, not The B-Sides, nor Illusion today - is it time for me to walk the dog yet ?

squishy2

I've found them - went down the new wave / synth route. It's Icehouse - they're Australian.

ulangariver

My next try is "Illusion".

patsquire

OK then, The B-Sides?

ladycharnley

Afraid not Neville - now let's keep it nice, it is Sunday after all :)

ladycharnley

They formed in 1977 but under a different name to the one they have now

ulangariver

O.K., I'll try The Vibrators.

patsquire

OUCH!

ladycharnley

Oh Neville I'm really sorry, it isn't Adam and the Ants :(

patsquire

Yep, that must be it. Bazooka Joe was his earlier band.

ulangariver

I'll try Adam & The Ants.

ladycharnley

ooooo close patsquire, very close ... :))

ladycharnley

Morning Squishy - you're not too late though :)))

patsquire

Bazooka Joe and the Lil Lets? Featuring Adam Ant, second from left?

squishy2

Morning - sorry I'm late ladyc... who are these guys.... got to hit the research buttons...

ladycharnley

Morning Brie - you need coffee :)))

Brie1648

Good morning! Haven't a clue - as usual!

ulangariver

Proobear is another Aussie, from Queensland. Welcome to you too.

ladycharnley

Morning/evening Proobear - you think so ?

ladycharnley

Good morning and good evening Neville. You are my first customer :))

Proobear

ladycharnley, that's really rattling the cobwebs!

ulangariver

Good morning lady c, and all starlord fans. Now, who have we here today? I don't know, to be quite honest.
