Ah, Rebecca and pd, the old 'duck and cover' - so the caption is "Well, we got the 'duck' all right, but the 'cover' part is gonna be a problem!"
It started in the fifties, actually, when I was in elementary school--by the sixties, the high school I was in probably realized that we wouldn't fit under the desks anymore, so we didn't do it.....!
Practicing their "duck & cover" drills. For those too young to know, in the '60s during the Cold War, chidlren were taught to duck under their school desks & cover their heads with their arms if they saw the flash of a nuclear bomb. Great protection, huh??! Those were the days...
