February 2013 Storm: Icicles, Arise!

These ones were so small but unusual in that they were more firmly frozen to the ground then the car. I have to laugh, Ardy...I was singing my own bowdlerized verse of "Swinging on a Star" when I was creating this: "and all the stalagmites are not in a cave...out in snow they can be very brave..." and I just got sillier as I went along! I have to admit a partiality for hanging icicles too...but there aren't any yet around here.

Glad you enjoyed it but didn't want to scare you; these are very small, Jana! I had to bend right down to the ground to take the photo.

All the stalagmites are not in caves. Prettier in pictures than in actuality. That's a LOT of snow. Thanks, Michelle.

Thanks, Francine...had to go for the sky (picked it from there) and added a gradient for subtle lighting effects. (I really had to bend over, rather precariously, to try to get this photo from ground level...the neighbours must have wondered...lol!)

Hey, texasstar and fodus, I haven't seen this one before either so there you go...a learning experience for all of us!

They were really glistening in the sun but I didn't realize my shadow would block them so much when I was bent down taking the pictures. Of course, they're not there anymore. The rest of the driveway had to be shoveled!
