Thanks Nicky, she's a real sweetheart and ever so gentle as well.
Thanks PJ. The foot is doing well especially considering that I walked on it with a broken bone for 4 weeks before it was even diagnosed. I'm lucky that everything is lined up and healing and I'll know more after my appointment tomorrow :-))
Hey Dawn - what a beauty you are. Love your silver feathers!
What a beauty - and she knows how to post!!!!! Edie, I love Florrie's comment too - how fun that she wants to be your pet, take it as great compliement... and it is good she will get into the new protected area.Hopefully your leg is doing better....PJ
Thanks Marilyn, Rosie and Barb. I think that she comes to me to get away from the boys. They've started to show an interest in her and she doesn't seem to want anything to do with them :-))
What a fabulous close up, Edie, and how special that she enjoys your company so much. She is a beauty. :-)
Look how prettily she poses too! She is a real beauty and I love that intelligent look in her eye.
She knows Edie is the food person, even a chicken can "know which side their bread is buttered on."
Thanks everyone for your comments. This is a bantam Amerecauna hen and will lay blue eggs when she's old enough, probably some time in August. She was indoors after hatching for about 6 weeks but didn't get nearly the amount of handling that LoneStar did but she's even friendlier than he is. She always comes over to see if I'll pick her up and if I don't she'll just fly up onto my shoulder. She loves eating scratch out of my hand and will ride around on my shoulder as I go about doing things in the chicken area. The only thing that worries me is that she's such a good flyer and can easily fly over the surrounding fence. I hope that one day she doesn't spot me working outside and decides to come and see me and the dogs see her first. She'll be one of the ones moving into the new chicken area, which was the old vegetable garden. It will be completely covered so she won't be able to fly out. The only thing that needs to be done is making a gate. This last week with the cast I haven't been much good for anything. Hopefully they'll be in there sometime next week. Well maybe a bit of both Florrie :-))
How beautiful. What kind of a chicken is she?
What a pretty little thing. thanks for sharing her with us!
She is lovely Edie. So sweet that she is so friendly and wants to be a pet! And I'm still chuckling at Florrie's comment!
I have never seen a prettier chicken.
Dawn, you couldn't have chosen a nicer, more caring human. You'll have a good life with Edie. Thanks. She's a beauty.
She thinks she's human.Or she thinks you're a . . . . . . no. She thinks she's human ;-))))
