Hi YO, it is a shame and I miss their buzzing songs as well. I did not know that, so read a bit, quite something, thank you.

Thanks Robbie.
Interesting how man introduces a species without the proper research and causes the death of another species. I must admit I do miss cicadas.

Were you aware that it was their absence that finally woke people up to the fact that the Ohio river was completely polluted? One would think it catching fire might be a clue.

Robbiel

Thanks PK.
Thank you Shirley.
Yes, I think you see them now Graci.
Thanks PLG.
Hi LJ, thanks.

laurajane

I love this. Love it!!

PLG1958

Oh, precious! Thank you, Robbie! Love it!

Graciela

shirley68

Robbiel

Thanks Ank.
Thanks lajuin and left a comment.
Thanks tex and also left a comment!
Hi buck, they are cute and you are right, thanks.

buckeye425

Very cute bird. And like you say, never know what will really happen when man introduces a species where it didn't originate. I'm finding it hard to imagine a part of the world with no kitties!

texasstar7

Robbie, look at my rooster! http://www.jigidi.com/puzzle.php?id=DGHK2HAT

lajuin

Very pretty bird and great shot. New to me.

I made you a puzzle, Robbie. You will enjoy.

puzzeljac

wow, he's a beauty.

Robbiel

Yellow reflection from you......I mean the sun yellow!
Hanne when man gets involved in nature, anything can happen!
Thanks Graci.
We provide full service Lela!
Thanks gem, somehow the birds seem to find shelter. We actually gain more that are blown off course from elsewhere.
They seem popular, thanks Celeste.
Thanks tex.
Hi snooker, didn't know that, thanks.
PKH they are pretty for sure.
No kitties here yellow.
Hopefully you will see and hear them mariolyn.

mariolyn

I love its name. Thanks, Robbie.

Celeste: that is exactly why I had to give up on having a birdbath years ago! Our cats (we had 3 then) plus occasionally visiting neighbor kitties would love hanging around the birdbath, there was a large forsythia bush right next to it so they could hide, not fair!!

pumpkinhead

Have never seen one of these fellas. He is quite a nice yellow!

snooker

They are in S. TX where I live and we have one across the street that will "talk" to me when I whistle at him. They mimic other birds and people if they can.

texasstar7

@Carole, we do have these in South Texas, pretty much year round. I've gone birdwatching around McAllen, Beeville, etc. and seen them several times. Beautiful shot, Robbie.

CelesteH

I got the same birdbath too but for some reason my kitty cats like to stand on it and splash the water, they dare the birds.
Such a pretty little bird. great shot.. thanks Robbie

gemstone

Memories...I remember hearing their call and trying to snap a pic but never got close! Great shot. Do you lose many birds etc. in the TS/hurricanes?

lelabugosi

I take it you provide shampoo, bubble-bath etc.........

Graciela

Beautiful one Robbie! thanks

Elfie

However it behaves eating what wasn't intended - well, it is the way it is, it's hard to re-progam a bird. Anyway it's a beauty really!! Thanks so very much Robbie!!

Have never seen one of these, what a handsome little one. Love the yellow reflections in the water, Robbie . . . nice shot!

Robbiel

Hi Carole, great choice in birdbaths we have! Thanks.

Robbiel

The Great Kiskadee was introduced in to Bermuda in 1957 to control the Anolis lizard. It failed because the Kiskadee eats eggs of smaller birds especially the Bluebird and probably was the cause of the Bermuda Cicada becoming extinct. When I net small fry, they wait and eat any that are left around. They are pretty birds though.

classof54gal

We don't have these pretty guys here in Texas, but I have this same birdbath in my yard! Carole
