The answer is probably the designer or owner liked it better, I like the design, but driving on a tour in a 1934 Ford Brewster convertible there was no air to the driver and front passenger.
I saw a Brewster last summer and talked to the owner. He told me that Brewster took various chassis and then built his own body. The one that I saw last summer was built on a Ford chassis that had been lengthened.
