He's a cute little fellow, who only stays in this area in the winter.
Today, when I came in from photographing the snow, a female house finch came in with me when I opened the door. I had quite a time catching her. I finally did and released her outside, unharmed.

Got up this morning to about 14 inches of snow!

My neck is actually better. Now the kink is in my upper arm, but I can still shovel snow and move just fine! Thanks, Morris!

Pat...awww, thanks!!

morris186

I hope that your neck feels better.

pkin38

You can get some of the cutiest pictures .. Thanks Laura...

laurajane

Thanks PH and Cel. No more snow shoveling for me for a while. I pulled a muscle in my neck lifting that heavy, wet snow today and now I can't lift my left arm too well. Grrr....

CelesteH

He didnt want to be out in that mess Laura :) giggles
Glad she is out safely

See even the byrds want to come in out of the cold and snow. Dats Y da fly south for da winter.

laurajane

Thank you morris, Lorna and roseheather. The main cause of house fires in the winter is space heaters. Also faulty electrical wiring.

Patti and snooker...yes, a most unwelcomed guest!

snooker

Nice set today, lj, and a great story about your visitor.

Love the junco! And your finch story! So glad you got her out all right!

goingsilver

Nice photo Laura, but I liked the image you conjured up of chasing the finch around your house. Sorry to hear about the fire; what an horrific experience for those poor families.

roseheather

What a beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing this.

I am sorry, though, to read of the people homeless now because of the fire. Seems like there have been several in my area also in the last two weeks. Sometimes it is because people are trying to keep warm. Sometimes it has been electrical problems.

morris186

They are in my prayers, Laura.

laurajane

My heart goes out to 5 families in our area, who have lost their homes to fire this weekend. I imagine the snow is adding insult to injury for them. They have all lost so much. One family is hospitalized in Springfield, IL. I was able to help out with American Red Cross emergency assistance. The apartment that burned and affected 3 families at the same time was the same apartment where Celeste used to live when she lived in Litchfield. I am so thankful that she is not living there now.

morris186

Good thing it wasn't a seagull or a goose, huh?

laurajane

I was running after her like a carzy woman. I didn't want her to mess up my nice clean house!!

Funny, Lyndee...true, too!

Thanks chickie and morris!

morris186

Funny story, Laura! I can picture you trying to catch that bird!
Nice pic!!!

chickiemama

Cute little feller!

lyndee

Ha ha Laura......maybe that's why they call them "house" finch!

laurajane

Lyndee, I didn't think to take a photo. I was too busy chasing her. I finally caught her in my bedroom window because she went behind the curtain. She was just fine and I got her out of the house as fast as I could.

Thank you, Nana!
