If you go into the sea it's best not to swim unless you are close to shore. It waste energy that you need for survival.

The photo is quite deceptive as the wave is breaking a long way from the lighthouse and it just looks as if it is being engulfed!! Still not comfortable!! Unmanned of course!! :-))

Hi John, well on the Farallone Island our lighthouse stood on the highest ground 300 feet above the sea but while there we had a tidal wave alert from an Alaskan quake and thank God it hit the north end of the island and all but my husband were safely in the lighthouse. He stayed behind to man the radio. But the lighthouse in your photo looks swamped and I am not a good swimmer in a pool let alone that sea.
