Okay. Once when I was going through there, I hit a big old bull that was loose and totaled my car! Bashed in my face and broke my nose, it was a mess. The trip to see my folks was 4 hours long (speeding), and I knew the road like the back of my hand, but this bull came out of nowhere. I was lucky to get out of that one alive. His head came through the windshield. I was going about 65 and didn't have time to stop. I know, I sure do ramble on and on!
JC, this is Highway 75 out of Dallas and goes all the way to Wetumka, Okla. This area is not far from Atoka, right outside Coalgate, and there is a rockslide, which is somewhat visible in this pic. There was a bridge there (the old Calvin) bridge, which collapsed sometime in the 70's. An old farmer told them when they built it that it wouldn't hold up, and sure enough, it didn't. Some people were killed when it collapsed.
Lovely picture, Tex! That is a beautiful part of Oklahoma. I have never been in that part. Most of what I have seen is I-40 west of Tulsa and most of that isn't pretty. (Sorry, my opinion.) From Tulsa to the Mo border is mostly forests but never been through there in the fall.
