Long trail back to camp

The reason I asked is because they do not show any firearms and it may have been from an earlier time.

They changed their bridle and head parts in time this was from the mid 1800's

gnt was this painter a Native American? I guess everything looks OK except the head gear I was always under the impression they did not have those type of bridles and uses a bozel or thin rope on the lower jaw or just a halter. Unless this was mid to late 1800's. Just me being a pain.
