I absolutely love this wonderful painting - the colours and use of light are wonderful, and such details on the feathers. These pheasant birds are common in England along country lanes, but they are not worldly wise and often run into the path of a car, rather than run away from it! This is mainly because they are actually bred it captivity by farmers, gamekeepers and land owners, then set free a few days before a shooting expedition - where they employ 'beaters'. Beaters walk through the fields beating and thrashing the ground to make the birds fly up in the air so that all the people standing around with guns can shoot them easily. Then they send their retriever dogs to go and get the carcasses. I don't consider it to be very sporting, but that's just my opinion.
Still common in England when i go fishing every week great picture thanks gnt
