We had several friends on the St. Charles route so that's where we would go too. Sometimes around First Street, sometimes all the way down to Lee Circle. Good times!
The parades are heating up or would be if it weren't raining. It will be back to back parades from now until Tuesday evening. We used to go to St. Charles to watch the parades, had friends who lived right there. One year I lived on St. Charles and it was the year of the police strike, what a bummer. I'm like you, getting too old to fight the crowds anymore and have caught my share of beads so it's just fun to watch on tv and take the day off.
It is so fun to meet someone from my area on Jigidi. I always loved Carnival, I can remember cars blowing their horns Carnival morning on St.Charles Ave. It was such a thrill to wake up to that sound. I miss the parades, but am a wee bit too old or too lazy or too something to make the effort. But anyway, Happy Mardi Gras just a few days early!
You are welcome Nancy, I like the rain but then I'm not planning on going to the parades but it's been a pretty bad day here for the parade goers. Maybe this evening will be better and I think the rest of the week until after Tuesday will be fine.
I'm singing in the rain.... thanks sparkles
