Solve puzzle

On one of the Cross Street Park expeditions, I swung by a pond in the Middlesex Fells, where I found a number of Painted Turtles sunning themselves. This was the only one I could get close enough to to get a decent picture.

These turtles, so favored by children in terrariums, are common in New England, but are not quite so cute when they're fully grown!
