In those days, shoulders fillings were fashion. Hey, even I looked broad shouldered :-)))

MajorDon

no roerick, he's broad shouldered!

roerick3

Okay, I looked and still think this has been worked somehow. They've been tinkering with photos since the 1950's. Oh, well. Still looks like his head is too small for his body!!!

starlord

Sorry, tried that link and it doesn't work
try this one instead
http://www.greenmanmusic.biz/?p=6504

starlord

Not sure about the photoshop, Roerick. Was that available in those days? I seriously doubt it.
This is where I got the image
https://www.google.be/search?q=black+wonderful+life&sa=N&hl=nl&authuser=0&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ei=-ZGWUYqXI6SR0QWJvIDwDg&ved=0CEcQsAQ&biw=1920&bih=979

As you can see, the image was used for the sleeve.
I know, Lady C. I gave an huuuuuge clue by mentioning his name. I thought no one would notice. And nobody did.
131 solves and I'm still on the board :-) yeaaaah
Think it's the first time this happens to me

ladycharnley

Hey Starlord, you are still on the leaderboard congratulations :))

ladycharnley

Hi squishy, welcome back - and no, you mustn't put the alarm on, its Saturday and you deserve your lie in after doing your good deed. It was fun today, the thing was, I thought he had blond hair and so racked my brains for blond chaps, then Starlord said, no, he's black and I thought, that's funny, black? are you sure? which was a huge clue but I completely missed the point and the clue. As as for the photo, I even googled (er sorry, researched) blond haired pop star stood in an alley (out of sheer desperation) but you would have been proud, I didn't run out of tenacity LOL

roerick3

Star, I'm usually too late and only come online when all of Europe has been up and online for hours but I'm surprised that no one commented on this photo---or whatever it is. It looks like it was photoshopped and his top half was placed in that location. And his head is too small for his body!!! Where ever did you find this photo???? Just thought I'd ask.

aggie

Hey squishy,

squishy2

Well, what can I say - I'm glad I'm still on dog-sitting duty because I'd never get this one! Day off tomorrow. Ladyc - the alarm clock will not be going on - a good long lie-in for me. Good luck tomorrow everyone! Now I've said that, I'll wake up at 5 am and sit here in anticipation!

ladycharnley

You realise now Starlord that we won't sleep, we will be sat at our laptops - refreshing the page every few minutes waiting for the puzzle to see who it will be. It was a very good one today and I love the song - didn't know it was by him though - Nice name ..... :))

aggie

it'll be Foreigner then, there's stories to tell on that one.

starlord

Tomorrow your little grey cells can have the day off.
The first one who comments will know the answer straight away :-)
It's THAT easy

ladycharnley

Yes you could be right Starlord. I need to forget about him. Well I had forgot about him till he appeared here. It's just that his name isn't very pop star glam is it, not like Crispian St Peters or Jewel Akens or Colin Vearncombe-Black. An easier puzzle tomorrow will be good because my poor little grey cells are waving a white flag :)))

starlord

I think you're dreaming bout Albert Hammond, Lady C :-)
Got an easy one tomorrow... Otherwise people might not even try anymore, because it is too diffucult :-)

aggie

P.S. - Hi Squishy.

aggie

I think that is what is called a trifecta...Good goin' MajorDon.

ladycharnley

It is a good name isn't it - Johnny Bowler Hat - better than Albert Hammond lol :)) (oops - no offence Albert or Albert fans out there)

ladycharnley

Congratulations MajorDon - very well done indeed - I have commissioned a statue of you for the EHoF :)))

starlord

Johny Bowler Hat could have been a great name, Lady C, but I think he isn't born yet :-)

starlord

And then there was Major D who came up with the right answer.
I did say in one of my comments. This one is black (without a capital letter ofcourse).
Well done, Major. It took some time but you saved the day. Camera crews are on the way for an interview, you're in a talk show tonight and the fans are awaiting your arrival :-)
When I speak of a one hit wonder, I always refer to Belgium.
Let's focus on his hit: Wonderful life. The song was released twice as a single and was successful the second time, becoming a top ten hit in Switzerland, Germany, UK, France, Austria and Italy. In Belgium it got to the 5th place in the charts.
Wanna hear it again, for old time's sake?

ladycharnley

Well MajorDon, I would never have guessed at that - I was going to say Johnny Roots or Johnny bowler hat next - lol

MajorDon

I'd argue he was a one hit wonder as he had 2!

MajorDon

Colin Vearncombe - Black

ladycharnley

johnny wright

starlord

You're getting close, Lady C... no cigar yet :-)

starlord

I didn't mention the name Johnny Gentle, Major D.
But I did mention the name of this singer...

ladycharnley

I was going to say Johnny Black

MajorDon

Johnny Gentle

starlord

Well, Lady C and Aggie, I didn't think it would have been this difficult.
Or did I?
I have given the answer myself in one of my comments though :-)
I was really convinced someone would have noticed it :-)))

ladycharnley

Gary Numan - Steve Harley ?

ladycharnley

Billy Idol ?

aggie

John Parr?

aggie

Nik Kershaw?

ladycharnley

I'm tempted to say it looks like an unsmiling Rick Astley but I'm sure it's not :((

starlord

Ewwww. the three wizz kids are bundling their knowledge and strenght. Won't be long now when the right name pops up :-)

MajorDon

Morning Aggie :) but lunch in 2 minutes...yum yum

aggie

Morning, I'm checkin' in on it Lady C, morning to you starlord, MajorDon.

ladycharnley

Morning Aggie - do you have a clue who this chappie is ?

starlord

Last clue: he's from Liverpool

starlord

I'm repeating myself, I know... but he's not

ladycharnley

Long John Baldry ?

starlord

I regret to inform that Johnny forgot all about you :-)
And you forgot all about him too, as... it's not John Leyton :-(
This is so funny and weird at the same time. I'll tell you later why :-))))

ladycharnley

John Leyton (Johnny remember me)

starlord

Naaa he doesn't need his roots done, Bent :-)
No Ricky Valence, Lady C...

starlord

I was wondering Papawalrus, how can you tell? :-)
No umbrella, no bowler hat? Those are the typical things for a Brit, I think.
Another cue, the 3rd one: He's a one hit wonder.

ladycharnley

yes he does - hi Denise! How about Ricky Valance ?

bentleyd

Needs his roots done Lady C

ladycharnley

Yes Matt is blond but the chap in the picture looks like he's got blond hair too

No help, Lordy, it's obvious he's an Englishman at first glance.

starlord

Isn't he blond? This one is black :-)

ladycharnley

oh was going to say is it Matt Van Schie - lol

starlord

I'm ever so sorry, Major D and Lady C
Time for clue 1: It's a man
lol kidding
Real clue 1: He's British

ladycharnley

Gary Puckett without the Union Gap

starlord

Alas, triple alas, Lady C and MaJor D...
Bit too soon for a clue yet... :-)
In about an hour I'll give the first one, if no one found it by then, that is

ladycharnley

LOL
Del Shannon ? Jess Conrad ?

starlord

They're doing fine, thanks for asking... :-)
But they're not in this image :-)

ladycharnley

How about Shane Fenton or John Farnham ?

starlord

Morning Don. You mean the 57 varieties guy ? :-) I'm afraid not.
Not too bad a guess, Lady C, but unfortunately.... :-(

ladycharnley

Good morning Starlord and Starlord fans - I'm going to guess Adam Faith ?

MajorDon

Morning Starlord...I genuinely don't know so I'll start with a guess - Heinz
