Chookies, that style fence was used a lot back in the early settlement of our continent. You can tell by the design that it pretty much supported itself---no need for fence posts. Sometimes the joints would be secured with wire, rope, even rags but these materials were often very scarce & hard to come by. And the rails were as near as the forest & didn't have to be building quality logs. One more great thing about them---almost every section could be a gate. Just let down & swing around the logs in a corner & let the cattle, horses, or wagon come through! Just thought you would be interested..............
