Banksy has just unveiled his latest artwork, Girl with a pierced eardrum; a play on Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer’s famous Girl with a Pearl Earring.
The artwork—which incorporates a security alarm on the side of the building—appears in Bristol’s docks, painted on a wall in Hanover Place. Photos of the new mural were posted on Banksy’s website earlier today. (http://twistedsifter.com/2014/10/banksy-remixes-vermeer-in-latest-artwork/)

Doesn't he mean earlobe? Her eardrum is inside the ear and piercing it would affect her hearing I imagine. I think the alarm looks like those buttons people have that stretch out in their earlobe (an African tribal tradition).
Also I just read that someone defaced the mural with black spray paint 24 hours after completion. Some people are just jealous and destructive and haven't a clue about art. Of course, Banksy seems to be making a sort of public statement--so maybe that's it with this one. Sad.

You got that right joaniebaloney! When Banksy does visit you, you've got to hire armed guards to protect the place!

Lets just hope some vile cretin doesn't tear up this wall and offer it to sell on to a private collection Thank you Banksy for all you share with the world!

Almost looks like she could also be a character from Les Misérables, in that style. I wonder, do people now lay away at night, hoping and praying that Banksy comes and pays them a visit as well?
