For 'soo': (who asked for a photo of my friend's 2 other cats)....
Blacky and Gijs are the 2 other cats (of 3) of my best friend. This photo was taken 2 years ago. I couldn't take one of them last wednesday, but they look rather similar, although Gijs (the grey one standing) got even more bony than in this picture! Gijs is very special...he's a soft and sweet natured cat with a "funny" right eye. Years back the vet stated that according to her Gijs has (in human terms) Downs Syndrome.
He is such a sweet boy without a care in the world. He appeared to have ear problems and yesterday the vet came to see him and treated him for an ear infection. Hopefully he will get better. Gijs was a stray (some 19 years back) and chose to live with my friend and her (back then) other cats. According to the vet's (history) papers he must be about 22 years old now!!!

Hello Marlene.....all of her 3 cats are lovely cats, but Gijs is just so very special. He cannot wait for my friend to sit down and he'll be on her lap, he still jumps on and off chairs and the sill! He eats like a horse but is almost all bones now, bless him♥♥

Op die foto van 2007 ziet hij er inderdaad op zijn voordeligst uit, maar als je hem in het echt ziet zie je het wel heel duidelijk. Maar dat neemt niet weg dat het een onwijs lief dier is. Qua liefheid komen hij en Goofie heel veel overeen. Geen idee of de levensverwachting van dieren met Downs met mensen die het syndroom hebben verschillen, als het zo is dan is Gijs zeker een uitzondering op de regel☺♥☺

Heel opmerkelijk Impie. Ik wist niet dat dat voorkwam bij dieren. 'k Heb even naar de andere foto gekeken en 'k zie gewoon een lieve poes. In de regel worden mensen met dat syndroom niet erg oud, dat geldt dan voor dieren blijkbaar niet?

Thanks soo, he is such a sweet cat, I hope he will get better an stay with her for a bit longer. The vet also clipped his nails, because he got stuck on everything. His teeth should be cleaned but for that he has to be put under and at his age that's not an option anymore!
Blacky is a lovely cat, but he bullies Pipo around...Pipo is a softy and lets itself get bullied eventhough he's much bigger than Blacky! ☺
I have another picture of Gijs (taken Oct. 2007). He had more flesh to the bones then, but it gives a more clear picture of his face☺☺

You learn something nearly every day on jigidi. I have never heard of a cat with Downs Syndrome so had to google it.
