Thanks Starlord. I didn't know that!
@Patsquire: Bentley didn't have TV in South Africa.@ Shazzaannie: Oh yes, "this is my song" and "don't sleep in the subway' were two great hits of her too. ;-) I bet she does have to look more or less the same on the sleeves of the albums you have.
Ah now I remember her very well. I still have the LPs my parents had of hers. I saw her on stage in 2000 playing Norma Desmond in the musical Sunset Boulevard. She was excellent. And who can forget Don't Sleep In The Subway, Colour My World (one of my favourite songs) and This is My Song.
Wait a minute. WHO didn't have TV in 1964?"Remember we had no TV then."
I've been sworn to secrecy :-)
Who on earth told you that?
Oh right, you drew a rectangle on the wall, projected a slideshow on it and called it TV :-)Well so I've been told anyway :-))))))
She was big here as well. Came out for a couple of shows here and was very well received.Remember we had no TV then. I used to listen on radio. Yeah yeah, backward country:-)))
Now was she really, Smllpkg?I thought she was more known in Western Europe actually.
One I recognized. She was a HUGE star in the States.
Lol PJ and Cevas... another conspiracy? :-)
Yes, I think Petula Clark is great!! Thank you Starlord.P.S. I like Pkin too!!

Oh dear god not everyone feels about me like you do... I really am a nice person...
You met your granddaughters friend? And he didn't run? How weird... :-)
Nope...most of them are on there own... I get to do what I want now .... I did get to meet my g-daughters friend last night ... they came into town this weekend as he had to take his state finals.. if he passes he will be the family Doctor...
Thanks for the additional information, Squishy and Wjl... Wow... 80 and still touring. And I thought Tina Turner did a great job, performing at that age :-)I know Pkin, and now you are a busy grandmom :-)
Don't remember her but at that time of my life I was a busy Mommy...
She's 80 and still touring in the UK http://www.petulaclark.net/
She was on Jools Hollands New Year show in the UK - hadn't seen or heard about her for years. She must in her 80's now - and still singing.
All it takes is a small push in the right direction and it all comes back :-)
YES, Petula! My parents had a record of "Downtown" and we kids played it constantly, "back in the day". You're right, starlord. As soon as I saw drifter's comment I was taken right back.
That happens to me ever so often too, Laura :-) But when you read Drifter's comment, it'll all come back to you, as he has the right answer.Congrats, Drifter, you just made it to the Hall of Fame. It's Petula Clark indeed. Remember 'Downtown'?
She looks so familiar and I swear I can hear her voice. But, I can't for the life of me remember her name.
