There is more beauty and natural wonder in this world... every time I feel like it's a grey day outside and in my self, I look at something like these creatures and I am uplifted. Thanks for posting them, Dottie, on this rainy and dreary day!

I always thought the male coloring was because they have to try so much harder, and the female is just naturally better...

They are gorgeous! As gnt says the wood duck is also beautiful. The pattern of the coloring in both types is similar. Of course the females are much more plain to help keep the nests hidden. Who says males don't wear BLING! ;o)

Wow! Where do these live? I've never seen a duck on a limb or in a tree!
