Ruthven Barracks, Newtonmore, Scotland
Why are you reporting this puzzle?
Built by General Wade in 1719, on the site of a castle built in 1229, which was destroyed by the Earl of Ross in 1451. Another castle was built in the 16th Century which was fought over by both Cromwellian and Royalist troops in the Civil Wars. The castle was destroyed by "Bonnie Dundee" in 1689. The barracks were the scene of fighting during the Jacobite rebellion, and were eventually destroyed by Jacobite survivors of the Battle of Culloden, who had gathered there after their defeat.
