Old friends I used to see frequently in late August and September. Maybe I haven't been visiting the right spots, but I seldom see them now. (drawn and painted in Photoshop)

They are frequent visitors on the beach in FL, where we go in the spring. You have captured their beauty.

They aren't too common around here Ardy. They're only seen briefly while on their way from summer to winter headquarters. Once you see one you don't forget it -- they're so dramatically colorful.

Jacki, I've never seen these that I know of. You know my bird naming skills aren't good but I do know a Mallard -usually. Thanks., Wonderful art.

Hi Songbirdj. Their breeding grounds are in Canada -- tundra regions, and also I think in far northern Europe. They do come south for the winter down both coasts on into Mexico, the Caribbean, and further south.

Thanks Dave.

Lovely painting. I've never heard of these birds. What country are they from?

Nicely done Jacki, nesting and all!
