This is the small building we originally built on our camp lot on the Raquette River. Dad fixed it up with various amenities - e.g. the horizontal brace and three lower blocks to the left of the door held a homemade table which could be removed and set up inside. There were originally some pulleys and ropes; you could hook a tarp to a bar and haul it up to the eaves, then stake out the other end with posts.

It was pretty crowded on rainy days, with six kids and Mom cooking dinner (there's a propane stove and a refrigerator in there). The couch at the left end folds out into a double bed so it can be used as a guest room.

Back in 1968, my younger brother and I stayed here when we were helping build Higley Flow State Park; we sometimes went to work by boat.

Its holding up pretty well. cabinette, Putter says :)

dondi

It's mostly used for storage, Suzy, but as far as I know (I haven't been inside since I came back up) it's still outfitted as a guest apartment.

Dilubreuer

Am amused of its utility...small but terrible dondi!

pumpkinhead

What fond memories the " shack" must bring you. Is it now used for storage, or for a naughty house when people misbehave?

jyl

Looks like it's full of memories.
Thanks for another great set, Don.

Wonderful little cabinette! Great history, too.
