:D)) ♥

madpol

no, we don't. I'm glad about that. It would be boring!!!! hahahahah

phloxie

Ahhh, dear Maddie, you are such a fine friend to me. You may not see your courageousness, but I do. And it matters to me. ☂ And I appreciate it. ☂ And we don't have to agree. ☂☂☂ ♫♫☼♪♪♫

madpol

ps. the fact that you're writing such long comments again, is a very good sign (in my opinion) :)))))))))))))

madpol

Phloxie, no,of course it doesn't come off as lecturing. Like Latifa said, you were sharing your thoughts.
About the puzzles, i agree with you.
About "the will to be present and engage in life" I thought about it a lot, not just this evening. I'm sorry, I can't write about it , it's too difficult. You said things that are very true, but exactly thát subject... oh Phloxie, I just don't know what to say, it's not easy..
Thank you so much for your kind words [though I don't see myself as someone couragious..] :-)), I think you know that... Thanks dear Phloxie..

Latifa, thank you too..

phloxie

Good. Thanks for the feedback, Latifa. ♫☼♪♫

latifa

You answered my first attempt at a response right before I deleted it :0) I must have hit something by mistake because I didn't mean to post it until I said more.... And yes! It always feels like you are sharing your thoughts - never feels like a lecture. It wouldn't have the impact it does for me if it felt like a lecture :0)

latifa

I am so grateful, phloxie, that you share your thinking so freely. There is so much here that is very relevant for me to mull over and learn from... and be able to respond at some point I hope.

Maddie, I too like your statement "this is one of those puzzles where you can only see how nice it is, after you solved it" as a metaphor for life and glad it sparked the thought from phloxie.

I really appreciate you both so much when conversations start like this... so much. Thanks!

phloxie

Thank you, latifa. I hope is comes off as sharing my thoughts rather than lecturing. ♫☼♪♫

Maddie, first of all I want to tell you that I deeply value your honesty. I trust it and respect it. And whether you 'sound a bit negative' or are dancing in joy, I appreciate that you show up just as you are. It takes courage to be so open, and your courage is a gift to me to accept that openness in myself. You are my friend and I want to 'mind' you --as in pay attention, not as in passing judgments-- in what ever state you come in. That is what friends do.

Secondly, I apologize. I did not intend to imply judgment in my statement. I did not mean to imply that there is more value in one size puzzle over the another size, or anything about the color choices. I don't think the number of pieces make any difference, Maddie. A 36 piece puzzle works great, so does a 9 piece or 400 piece or what ever # of pieces you want to solve, or are able to solve that day. You know there are weeks that I cannot solve anything larger than 16 pieces, and sometimes I can't even solve any.

It's the putting the puzzle together that is of value. Whatever puzzle I choose to put together is the one in which I get to see the bigger picture when I finish putting it together. There are no prizes for choosing 400 piece puzzle over a 9 piece puzzle. The prize is in the action of putting the puzzle together, enjoying it whether you are going as fast as you can to see if you can get on the leaderboard or if you are meandering through enjoying the color of each piece along the way, the point is to be doing it, enjoying it, and then delighting in being able to finish it, and then enjoying the puzzle as the 'larger picture' once you finish. That is what I was wanting to convey, and that I think your phrase names so beautifully; it is the action of engaging in life that gives life value. Hmmmm....Not the specific action, but ☂ the will to be present and engage in life. ☂ Even when that engagement is when I am depressed and I am functioning at a level that is not at the level of competency that I am used to functioning at... like being able to wash one plate instead of all of the dishes, like letting myself cry because I am grieving, and when there is joy to laugh and dance and sing. Whether in joy or sorrow (or anything that lies in between), the value is to engage in my life --to live my life-- exactly where I am.

Last week I went into the office one day. As I walked in I twirled around saying, "Look at me! See what I am wearing! I washed two loads of laundry today. I haven't washed clothes in 6 months! Celebrate with me because I was able to wash clothes today!" And we shared hugs and kisses and laughter... well, for those who did not laugh there were at least a few smiles chuckles.

Along the way of my life, my hope is that I become more and more skillful in accepting 'now' --in whatever form 'now' takes-- and more skillful at navigating the different waters; the rapids and backwater swamps, the roiling high seas and the days of glassy calm, the sunshine and the rain. Eventually, I think I will learn to handle the rudder with mastery and be more able to choose the waters I am sailing in rather than feeling I am always reacting to the circumstance.

Ok. Enough of the metaphor. There are some things I just don't know how to say any other way than metaphor or analogy. I have to be careful not to get lost in the metaphor. Now I have to go look up the difference between metaphor and analogy. And that makes me laugh!!!!!

madpol

yes, but usually 20 to 40 pieces is more than enough for me..,and what you say......well how many pieces would that be????? 1000? 5000?? And all in one color,as far as I'm concerned...
Sorry, I sound a bit negative... Never mind.. :-))

phloxie

What a metaphor for life, Maddie; '...you can only see how nice it is after you solved it.' That is an understanding that I want to remember through my days. Thank you.

maddiekids

So beautiful Phloxie ! this is one of those puzzles where you can only see how nice it is, after you solved it.There are so many lovely details !! Thanks !

phloxie

Thank you latifa. I am glad you liked this puzzle; glad the colors were not to tame for you. It's fun to be the first one to do a puzzle, don't you think. I can often get on the leader board for a few minutes that way. LOL! You beat my time by 30 seconds. :)

Thank you, jacki2. I am glad you liked it.

jacki2

latifa

Never was the first to solve a puzzle before :0) I knew instantly that I would like this one phloxie - and I was right. Thanks!
