It's a lovely photo and especially interesting now, as scaffolding completely covers the entire monument (I drive by it going to and from work). It's being readied for repairs of earthquake damage from last year. Earlier, Washington Post photos showed engineers rapelling down the entire height of the structure, examining the damage - a dizzying thought. Thanks for sharing the photo.

Brought back memories. I worked at 17th St. and Constitution Ave., next to the Monument, for a number of years. The bldg. I worked in was demolished for the Park for the Vietnam Memorial. Got a parking ticket for parking too long, while I was at work...more than once, I think.

We were there the end of Jan. into Feb! No lines, fortunately. But it was really cold. This was our only chance to see anything. Yes, we could have ridden a bus all day but you gotta get inside a building. We happened to meet a former student from Washington State University, in Pullman who had been to Dusty. My husband 'happened' to have his Dusty, Wa. cap on.
