We go there often, year after year.
A very long time ago, I was there when there was no walkway or railing.
I bet that way too many people got hurt, or even killed, because they were too dumb to stay out of the way of the waves and climbed into that thing.
I actually know someone who climbed in there and took a souvenir.
The least "touristy" time to go, Sue is in June or September. It is pretty crazy on the Park Loop Road in July and the beginning of August. Be sure to check out the "quiet" side of the park as well-toward Southwest Harbor. Not so crazy with people over there, and still beautiful.
Great post, Cherly.
Sue, it is a science teachers dream. The whole place is covered by free, ranger guided, programs that you only have to sign up for. There is a lot of history and geology and it is really cool.
We used to go every summer for two weeks.
There are campgrounds galore.
There is a free bus system, aimed at reducing polution from cars, paid for by LL Bean.
