This is a wonderful movie which I have watched many times. The beginning of the race was filmed in Duluth, and the end right here in Two Harbors! You may not be a fan of sled dog races, but this is so much more. (Star-studded cast, too.)

One of the teams was Russian, so it could be! Before the race started and they were each introducing their teams, maybe he was one of those guys. For the end, when the stands were full of spectators, they hired a lot of local people as extras.

Several movies were made around here, like Rosemary's Baby - partially filmed at Glensheen in Duluth. Another was "The Good Son" with Macaulay Culkin. I only watched that once, as it was not such a feel-good movie like Iron Will.

It's been so many years since I've seen it, but it seems to me that is was inside a cabin or room with -- perhaps -- race officials? His name was Lloyd Shold, so it should be in the credits. My memory puts one of those Russian fur hats on him, but that may just be imagination. :-(

That's cool! Do you know what his part was? I have watched it so many times, I am sure I know all the parts!

A great uncle of my kids had a small speaking part in this movie. I haven't watched it for a long time. Now I am reminded to watch it again. Thanks for posting, Cindy!

There is an old railroad museum in Two Harbors, made from what was once a depot. That was the building they used for the end of the movie. Funny thing was that they almost had to shoot it elsewhere, as we hardly had any snow that year...totally unusual for northern Minnesota!

I totally agree with your opinion, LC. It's one the kids liked, now they're not home but I still view it occasionally!
