I'm glad you said that, Chooks, because I really have no idea what they're for. They make a nice perch for these nasty birds, though, keeps them out of the trees (they make them white) for awhile!

In all our birdlife sanctuaries, chickie, we have similar perches (mainly made of timber) dotted everywhere for our birds to gather. It's wonderful to see so many of them gather at the same time and even funnier to see them squabbling over their favorite pole!!

Wow! So do you suppose those perches were specifically put there for the cormorants or do they have another purpose? They look like pvc pipes.
