My goodness, Sharon. You were actually caught in one? I only saw them in movies or so, but never irl. It has to be an incredible experience. And indeed, when you're in the wrong driveway, visibility is zero :-)
There are warning systems to help prevent people being caught out in a dust storm. Luckily, in my 35 years in Arizona, I have only been in my auto in one really bad one. I was just a couple blocks from home, so turned on the lights, turned off the air-conditioner and tried to make it into my garage. The door wouldn't go up! in the near zero visibility I had turned in the wrong driveway. The dust storms are impressive and you don't want to be caught in one. But at least we don't have to shovel it afterwards :} (I'm originally from snow country.)
Firghtening experience, I can imagine
I have been in one. No fun. wind shield of my car had poke marks all over it. Never saw one from a distance like this. Hmmm.
Glad you like it, Dbax
Wow.....what a picture. I have never seen anything like it. Thanks for educating me!
I'm not the photographer, Sweetpants. I just happened to find it :-)Reminds me of a song, Bent. Dust in the wind by Kansas
I don't think my feather duster will be able to manage this :-)

And not to forget the cleaning afterwards
Wow, it looks very ominous, doesn't it?
