hi was thinking i have not heard from you in ages - so clicked on you and found this"letter" which i never saw - so sorry dear friend - this was the day we moved into our new place - what a mission xxx my hubby used to do all the renovations himself but hasnt been well in the past few years - bad arthritis in his hands and sore back etc xxx had to get contractors who took 2.5 months instead of 1 month!! and now because of damp from upstairs have to get our brand new kitchen redone!!! so Frustrating and irritating and going to put me in a pickle!!! Hope you are well have missed you lol xxx

Thank you brightspark..I'm sure we will have great fun while they are here, and don't worry...I'm being realistic about what I can manage to get done, and if I don't finish everything..well so be it!
How wonderful you were able to visit your daughter and son in law, I'm sure you must miss them. Have they gone to live there permanently...or is it just a temporary thing? You certainly have had a busy few months....moving home is tough enough without having to pack everything up within two months..I hope moving day went smoothly...you'll have fun unpacking and finding your favourite things again:)) and it will be fun to explore your new location...it sounds ideal. Thank goodness you have such a great sister in law and you have been able to get the renovation done before you moved in. When we moved here we stayed with my daughter while everything was completed. Just like you it was ground up..the only difference was we only had to contract the gas work and refinishing the exterior walls...and my dear husband, who does this type of work for a living, did everything else..structural work, windows, plumbing and electrics etc...and I did all the painting:)) I was interested to read about your course...I imagine from what you said it was necessary due to some new legislation, which must have been very annoying given your years of experience...oh, and if it's anything like over here, I bet you had to pay for the course too! What a relief to be able to put all that behind you...now you can relax and enjoy your new home..I hope you'll be really happy there, xx

Was supposed to move in 1nov - ha ha hopefully going to move in tomorrow - had awful contractors - did kitchen 3 x and just finished today (We been staying at my sister in law who has been absolutely amazing!!) take care - we just going to chill out and Unpack these holidays - its a lovely complex sure we will feel like being on holiday!!! take care and lol xx

Hi brightspark, lovely to "see" you. I am well thanks, but that's sweet of you to notice I haven't been around so much:) I've been really busy lately - my daughter, son-in-law and two little granddaughters (the eldest is almost 4, and the youngest 9 months) are arriving on Sunday 14th to spend Christmas with us. They currently live in New York, so although we talk nearly every day on FaceTime, it's 6 months since they were last here ...as you can imagine I'm very excited! Usually when they come my son-in-law has to stay behind to work, so daughter and girls manage in one spare bedroom, with a double bed and cot, but with four of them it will be too much of a squash, so I'm busy having a long overdue clear-out of my office to gain an extra bedroom. While I'm in the mood for it, I'm also clearing my wardrobes, and listing stuff on eBay. As if that wasn't enough, I'm hosting our big family get together two days after Christmas Day for about 30 adults and 5 under fives...four generations, and of course I want the place to look nice so I decided to do a bit of redecoration too...just painting the walls in the entrance hall and the kitchen to freshen things up...I quite enjoy decorating, well the painting part at least...I'm not so keen on all the prep work :) Of course I could have tackled most of these jobs long before now, ..I must be the worlds worst procrastinator, but it's amazing what a deadline can do! Hope you are well too...do you have plans for the holidays? xxx

brightspark

Hi laurajane..wouldn't that be fun...and just around the corner from here you can take a boat trip along the Thames too and afterwards how about a visit to a nice tea shop? Thanks for stopping by :))

laurajane

Oh, let's take a walk around the harbour!

grandmalucy

i shall indeed.

calendargirl

Thanks grandmalucy..it is a nice place, and it would be fun to swap to see your Kingston. When I go there I love to walk alongside the river, and the town still has some lovely historic buildings. I have some more pictures of the town to post but I've reached my limit for today. Please come and visit again :)

grandmalucy

oh Calendergirl, it is looking so lovely a place. it would be nice to switch place now and then... thanks for sharing your town with us.

calendargirl

Indeed it isn't grandmalucy...it's Kingston upon Thames to give it it's proper name. I've just been googling Kingston NY.....what a fine place it is! You certainly have some very lovely buildings there. Hope you like my Kingston :))

grandmalucy

THis is not from my kingston. lol
